I understand it’s supposed to be a rework of Scatter that still has the same effectiveness but I feel like it’s just a bit too much when someone spams it to land headshots, especially on Tanks like Orisa when it comes down to it.

Tbh storm arrows isnt what i thought it would be. I imagined a burst of arrows fired continuously, no HS, which was essentially a burst DPS option similar to Helix Rocket or FTH. Or basically barrier spam. What its turned out to be is just better primary fire.
Storm arrows can output a total of 960 damage assuming you hit all headshots, and without even getting a damage boost. This is actually insane.
If you get all the damage boosts in the game stacking on you, you’ll do over 1100 damage if you head all headshots. I mean, this is nowhere near close to the damage of scatter and in a bad way. It has so much damage potential it literally surpasses D.Va’s ult at some point.
Yeah its quite scary actually, since scatter could only do 700 damage max w no boosts IIRC.
I feel like w the six arrow mechanic they want this to be a more balanced scatter, but with nearly 50% more damage, faster fire rate and faster base arrows AND faster move speed in use AND a shorter cooldown its no surprise its OP.
Really, thibkibg avout it more, id like storm arrows to:
- be channeled
- slower move speed
- 10 sec cd
- 60 base damage + can headshot OR 125 base damage but no headshots
- slower arrow speed (same instant fire & fire rate)
This would give the same damage output as scatter with the same limitations but slightly more counterplay, which us what they intended with this ability I believe.
I wouldn’t be opposed to making Storm Arrows non-headshot if Hanzo is in need of a nerf. It is a lot of damage potential in one ability, after all.
Yeah why reward people for headshots? We should make every hero like healers (excluding Ana) where you just look at them and it auto aims for you.
I’m loving this. People whined about scatter arrow all the time. When storm arrow was proposed to replace it, I kept saying that people were gonna miss scatter arrow once they started getting shot in the face with storm arrow.

Damage potential is not a bad thing. You all need to stop overreating.
Scatter had a max of 450 before boosts, unable to crit except with the original arrow which did not scatter if it hit someone and instead used normal arrow damage. Storm Arrow before crit is 480 damage. In total before taking skill into consideration Storm Arrow was buffed by 30 damage, 5 per Arrow.
I’m sorry but Orisa has two abilities that can completely negate it. Hanzo is using his ability why can’t Orisa use her’s?

Ur conveniently leaving out that if the original arrow crits it does 250 damage.
250 + 450 = 700
Remove the crit, and people start play junkrat and spamming that instead lol.
if hanzo hits you with all 6 storm arrows and then two more HEADSHOTS he shouldn’t be able to kill things?
Headshots are okay, I would propose maybe lowering the number of arrows, effectively reducing the quick spam damage, while still rewarding skill decently.
i believe he can fire 6 arrows in 2 seconds. Changing that to 6 arrows in 3 seconds would suffice.
In this case skilled Hanzos who know how to land headshots can use storm arrow to burn through Orisa’s fortify.
Thanks to landing crits Storm arrow will still do its base 480 damage (before armor calculations, with armor calculations its 450) and still kill Orisa.
Against other tanks Hanzo can burn through Zarya and her barrier through use of headshots. Only 1 headshot is needed to burn Reinhardt, D.Va gets essentially delted if DM is not ready. Roadhog gets deleted with headshots even if he pops Breather. Winston like Reinhardt only needs 1 headshot to get killed by it.
He is essentially at this point the Ultimate TankBuster. He also does some good burst against Barrier’s like Reinhardt’s, Brigitte’s, or Winston’s (not as effective against Orisa, but he has the mobility to get around that).
If the original arrow hit a character then it would not scatter.
Scatter Arrow only generated shards if it hit terrain. This was why Hanzo’s scattered the floor for damage and not put it into your chest.
All y’all acting like when you see a Hanzo glowing blue you just stand stock still and face directly at him and wave your arms like ‘Please, Hanzo! I’d love to be shot in the face with your arrows!’
Everyone’s over here like ‘Do it then, kill me’.
Jump, run away from him, shoot him back if he’s glowing, stun him or sleep him and make him waste the countdown on his ability.
Y’know… counterplay. Which you can do now. You couldn’t do that w/ scatter.

Yeah, I think either of our solutions could work. It isn’t an entirely OP ability, just needs slight tweaking.
Do we actually want to reduce Storm arrows to a ‘‘just spam for bodyshots’’ ability?
It’s easy to pile one unlikely situation on top of another, you can make any ability ‘insane’.
