Say "Support is fine" all you like but if they don't queue

You and me both!

It could just be some pretty heavy numbers changes, or sticking on escape abilities on some of them.

Maybe adjusting some of the attributes on some of the attacks?

Throwing a mobility only silence (cripple) on a couple of the supports primary would be interesting.

I am FULLY expecting a near instance switch between pistol / staff for Mercy, Maybe mini Valk on e, and Rez as ultimate? to make up for the lack of an extra body to GA to?

There is a lot they could do.

Overheal is very much on the table I would guess for at least one of them.

I think if OW1 taught us anything it’s that number changes alone aren’t exciting.

That IS true.
There is a lot of space for some pretty big changes in the support lineup, so I expect they will at least trial some interesting stuff.
It will be really interesting to see how to shakes out.

I am expecting some DPS crying when Beta 2 hits honestly.

I won’t get a chance to use OP as hell Sombra for sure she VERY much will be toned down.

Bed time for this Wizard.

Yes, by giving DPS even more advantages.

DPS has never had it so good, all at the expense of the other roles.

It can’t just be about the DPS experience.

If all roles are fun there is no queue problem.

So let’s be considerate of the play experience of everyone.

No, I will hide instead. I never were hiding behind tanks, as it would be way too obvious hiding location.

Hard to say, could be some mobility improvements.

They can’t make DPS not have fun, so I would expect only minor changes. Something, that is completely ineffective against competent DPS.

Which is why I suggested giving supports the movement speed passive instead, damage doesn’t need one. That passive change will be huge for supports but if it’s the general gameplay feel you don’t like then that’s an entirely different issue, one I maintain isn’t something that should be fixed if it means allowing support players to “do their job unbothered”.

Robot,

I know I and many other support players have been trying to drill this through the skulls of others.

This is a problem that affects ALL the roles, because you need ALL the roles to play.

Queue times are your outcome measure, and no amount of “git gud” will change that.

The fact queue times for support are getting faster as the beta goes on is a powerful piece of data that cannot be understated.

People are not just trying out the new shiny stuff. They’re going where the role is fun and rewarding.

Good thread. Good points.

If supports can not do their job unbothered, chances are they just won’t do their job.

Which, since part of said job(healing) is nearly obsolete, becomes more probable.

The people who can would be better and be the difference maker? People keep complaining about lack of teamwork but maybe the solution is right there? More communication and between supportline and tank as well as supports looking out for each other with Damage helping out as well if they are in position to do that.

I have played the game since I got beta access every day for multiple hours as support and the amount of games I couldn’t support my team doesn’t exceed more than I can count on one hand.

This whole “DPS are to blame for everything” stance thrown for no reason has to stop.
No FR, it gets weird at this a point, like people saying “Thanks Obama” when they dont like something, or for no reason :

1- DPS Passive is clearly the less impactful across all ranks. It only “shines” above Masters

2- DPS are also a role that had a meta, for quite sometimes, where they didnt even EXIST. That , not only didnt happen to Supports, but Supports literally dictated most metas, so chill.

3- It isnt. Randomly blaming DPS for Devs decisions to back track RQ and Forced 222 changes is absurd. Just like the “Thanks Obama” meme.

4- Fun doesnt get everyone in the queue and yes, this is a Closed Beta. So take whatever is happening there with a grain of salt.

5- Oh yeah, because clearly, we are totally not considering and seeing a gazillion threads about supports and nothing else. You think forums, for example are IGNORING Supports now? Click on “General Discussion” and tell me how many threads are about Tanks/DPS vs Supports.

But hey, keep throwing the memes, lets get the votes, right?

PS: In b4 the “Oh you are a biased DPS main” , when I have more time and SR on the other 2 roles.

We know very well, that “more communication” won’t happen.

Solution is in making all roles, not “unlucky chosen ones” rely on teamwork directly.

There’s a difference between hours spent on a hero and hours spent working on improving, but I digress…

Switching the role passives between dps and support is a really nice idea that would help both sides significantly.

You don’t have to rely on teamwork if you are good enough to take care of yourself, goes for any role really. Tanks still need healing and support util, damage still requires tank to make space and take aggro as well as healing and utility from support.

OW2 is less team reliant but you still can’t 1v5.

Yes, I would change the damage healing a bit so it doesn’t activate after 1 second. That would be a bit too good. Should be 3 seconds like the support passive originally was in beta.

They can adapt in unexpected direction. Like it happened with Mercy and her “hiding”.

Supports, that only shoot and never heal, are possible result of such “adaptation” - why heal, if shooting is more useful in nearly all situations?

Agreed.

It would reduce a lot of frustration on both sides. Dps could play more independently and more aggressively, and supports could play a bit more strategically. I wish they’d try it out.

They might but I don’t expect any major balance changes for the first beta. I think we might get a DEV post after it’s over talking about the feedback they have received and what they are looking to do for the next beta period.

What do u mean u never thought?
U have been on the forums long enough to know that the majority cannot think for themselves:
-They are either just repeat what x streamer said
OR
-Join a hivemind

The ones who do think things through are very few and far between.

I have been trying to point out that the current live Brig is just a design mess for a long time and somehow people are completely fine with a character being unintuitive, just because some people can play with her like that and show good results.
Almost everything, regarding Brig contradicts itself but that somehow isnt a problem
It isnt a problem that most players cannot use her in her current iteration, its the players who are wrong.

Players in this game just love to create difficulties for themselves, so they can prove something.

Can you shoot at target, while standing on one leg and with your arm tied behind your back? Yes, but usually it’s not used as proficiency test at shooting.

Similar concept is here - can you work with illogically designed hero(melee fighter, that isn’t supposed to be in melee range)? Yes.
