What counters? It takes so much effort to burst him down already. Even Reaper players are saying their changes don’t make them reliable roadhog counters!
Dude we can argue this until we are blue in the face. But at the end of the day Blizzard will do what they want and only listen to the pro scene anyway lol.
Bubble, Matrix, Hook, SleepDart, ArmorPack, IceWall, Whipshot, FlashBang, RocketPunch, Bodyblocking Winston, and any number of well timed knockback abilities.
Dart, armour, FB and many others have a cast time. Most won’t save you if you’re the one hooked and majority are reliable on your team being close enough to the roadhog to use said ability or aware enough.
A perfect reality sure, but as a McCree I try to keep my distance from roadhog because of the inability to clear distance from the scrap gun. So if my Mercy gets hooked I’m not going to be within the 5M FB radius to defend her.
And I can bet Dva won’t be right there ready to DM, Ana won’t be able to react quick enough and Zarya might not even be on the team.
I’m pretty sure it would actually be OP if it killed on impact, because on Live, you can CC the Roadhog to cancel the Hook, you can bubble the ally that got hooked, you can Matrix the shot, you can throw an Armor pack at the target, you can sleep Roadhog… etc.
Sadly that is still a problem. I’ve seen it happen where Hog’s hook hits a shield or a fortified Orisa, and it catches someone on the inside of the shield or hiding behind the Orisa and they get hooked.
It’s not as frequent a problem as it used to be, but it still exists, and it’s cheep af.
All I’m saying if one hit kills are going stay then give hog some sort of draw back.
A bit of give and take.
Reduce the chain length by 5M
Reduce the damage reduction when healing to 35% instead of 50%
Increase the hook CD by a second.
Anything.
He’s like McCree, difficult to balance. Too much or too little and he becomes too weak or too strong. He was strong, then weak, now he’s going to be flankhog again and it’s just not fun to play against.
If you get hooked being 20 meters away from Roadhog, it’s not OP. You’re either out in the open, not noticing the Hog missing from the enemy team frontlines. Or you’re over extending AND not noticing the loud fat man.
The damage reduction is the only way he can survive, as he’s got no shield and no mobility, unlike all the other tanks. I think 2 seconds of damage resistance is reasonable.
Increasing the Hook cooldown would make him obsolete as each and every of his counters have 8sec cooldowns on their abilities that can counter a hook.
Hog is loud. Not mobile. Can’t shield himself. Is a very short range hero when his hook is down. People just need to keep track of cooldowns and get a better game-sense. Heroes shouldn’t be nerfed because people don’t want to learn how to play better.
No mobility, weak at range, hitbox the size of the moon, gives away free Ult charge like candy, no armor on a tank, mostly limited to getting value out of his one cooldown ability that takes 8 seconds and aim.
Really weak to stuns and antiheal. (Ana is the bane of his existence).
His one powerful offensive ability can be blocked almost every time by responsive enemies. And doesn’t go through shields.
And you near completely stun yourself while using that one ability that defines your character.
tanks can delete 200 hp hero quickly. d va dives in with rocket. rein swing plus fire strike or charge. zarya with charge can delete 200 hp heros. Winston 3.5 seconds can kill 200 hp hero.
I swear people look at Roadhog and just see a 600 HP hero that can one shot…they don’t bother to see that he has about a million counters and drawbacks
Everyone is weak to stuns and anti-heal and there’s only one ability that can even cause that in the game.
Most of the people that can stun him Hog can hook and kill now before they can react.
A sensible roadhog doesn’t give that much ult charge.
These changes just feel like a haphazard revert to when he was too powerful a few seasons back. He was nerfed into the ground because of it. Because he was decimating lower ranks.
Imo one hit kills should be reserved for sniper headshots and ults. (and Hanzos spam arrow ability shouldn’t count - he really shouldn’t be able to delete tanks like That).
Sure, but not everyone is a huge meatball that doesn’t have anything to block or dodge the CC. Just play Roadhog against an Ana and you’ll see her never miss ONE sleep-dart on you.
Hanzo deletes characters much faster than roadhog ever could also melts shields, climbs walls and has movement.
Hog is where he should have been months ago.
Ana makes hogs life a nightmare so does brig and those are healers. If you are constantly getting hooked and killed by the biggest character in the game it might be you or your team.
