I want him to keep the one shot but lose the damage reduction on breather. Its usage is very braindead

This is the biggest lie I have ever seen. I play a lot of Hog and I only melee for targets that are 250HP+ I one shot targets all the time with no melee.

I mean, debatable… Its an ability that lines up your One-Shot. Hog can still one shot at the right range. Take old Doom for example, His Slam, Shoot, Uppercut and Shoot Combo depletes there HP over time, While Hog is just Hook and dead. But the biggest difference between the two is that its far easier to get out of Dooms combo.

Hook isn’t his only threat… He has 700HP, can oneshot with out hook, can soak a ungodly amount of damage and works in every comp.

Everything can be avoided in this game. Doesn’t mean that its not a extremely punishing ability especially when you’re hooked when you’re in a safe place because RH has an overwhelming health pool and insane damage.

You forgot to add his health pool, his base damage at close range, His right click can one shot at the right range… He is always a threat when his Hook is on cooldown, which is fine. But the range on the hook needs peeled back. Sick of being hooked from Dorado to Volskaya

i have no problem with the hook itself, its a fun and useful ability for a tank hero.
im not sure how i think about him being able to instantly delete 200hp heroes at 20m range with only 8s cooldown, but im not sure what the alternative would be providing we still want to keep him viable.

if anything, i would probably keep the combo, but lower his personal survivability a little so that he cant just stay in a full frontal fight on his own for long periods of time.
kirikos cleanse now exists, and surely wont be just deleted out of the game. so Ana is not a viable counter anymore.

its not an easy puzzle to solve, imo. hog is fun to play and many people enjoy him, it would be a bad move to just neuter him.

EDIT: Oh and PLEASE make his footsteps louder and fix audio bugs, i play with headphones and yet i get surprised by backline hogs too often. literally dont hear a squeak until hes right behind me. that alone would do wonders.

I feel like they ought to keep his hook combo intact, wich means keeping the burst dmg one shot capability but reduce all of his other stats, while giving him some sort of team-play potential, much like Queen but to a lesser extent.

He kind of needs that self sustain to attempt to force picks considering without landing hooks he’s just a bullet sponge that has alright poke & a shotgun. It might seem like a lot, but he has a massive model with a large critbox and shotgun heroes can farm him.

Is this actually an issue? With 5v5 I find it a lot easier to hear his loud footsteps

His gun works at two ranges: point blank, and 10 meters, and both are generally unreliable.

And him soaking that much damage is the only reason he’s not trash tier. I’m watching ZBRA stream and the DPS are right there at higher ranks to fill RH with lead every time ZBRA has his attention.

yea the silent footsteps are a huge issue, for me at least.
not just with hog, but i think hes is a hero that definitely needs them to be louder.
and also theres a known bug that makes footsteps behind you basically inaudible so that adds to it.

Actually you might be right I normally pick up on his chain moving more than anything. His footsteps have so much bass which fit his size/character so they might get muffled more by other sounds while widow has super loud clacking footsteps you hear over everything else a mile away.

It’s not the one shot that is the problem. It’s his own healing that is broken with Roadhog. Right now there is barely any room to punish a Roadhog with a failed hook because of his “take a breather”

Also a lot of stuns have been removed which means Roadhog can just keep using “take a breather” without being countered.

A tank should not have a easy to press button to heal himself. That’s is what supports are here for.

To replace his heal they should replace it for another ability that spawns a poison gas cloud that deals damage and slows enemies entering it. This gives Roadhog the ability to zone enemies.

It’s not even the the combo that annoys me. It’s the lack of proper checks to the hook, that are crap. The chain is not checked if it hits the environment. It can pass through people in front of you. It takes a full second to break. If the environment has a hole you can’t pass through.

And if you do break its LOS. The hit damage it does. Still is on you. When that makes no sense. You where out of its LOS. So it hit a wall. Give me back the health. I don’t even want to talk about the absurd ways it reels you around things. Not to mention the times I had bubble on. With it reeling Zarya in. I’m sick and tired of favor the shooter. And how wide the hook hitbox is. Especially with skins that change the hook from the default model. You’re not allowed to dodge it by moving to the side. Not even from top and bottom.

Unless you are at its distance limit. The travel time allows you to move enough. Any point in between. There’s no point in bothering. You can anticipate it. Still won’t work. And because we have such a narrow view of things, in first person. You always look like you cleared it. Because it always goes off screen. Going off screen doesn’t mean it missed your body. The crap FOV gets you killed all the time.

For left click you literally have to be rubbed up against his shotgun and unaware (your bad for letting him get close, not his bad)

Right click requires precise distance and aim, this isn’t made up, if you get 1 shot right clicked you absolutely deserved to be b/c you got outskilled.

I’m pretty sure the hook uses a bounding box of sorts and sojourn during dash has her model lowered some making it seem worse and replays are not 100% accurate to actual gameplay. This is ignoring latency and other issues that make it look worse I promise you if a player is close to a corner and moves back in as the hook comes around it misses on their end.

That’s the example where the damage it gives during the connection is still given to you. The server is still allowing elements of the hook to work. And I don’t believe any of the replay BS being wrong. It’s accurate with bullets flying all over the place. And I see this crap during live play. It’s the crap oversized hit box.
