If you couldn’t GA to souls, even if Resurrect was instant and gave her invulnerability, I’m pretty sure Mercy would die a horribly painful death every time she tried to go for a 5 man res. It would just take too long to get there.
Dunno, seems as if Mercy has the weakest ult out of the supports after the Ana buff comes through. Yes it’s consistent team heals, but now that 2nd rez is gone, and with the 10 per second reduction to her primary, much less impact.
Dps ults tend to be much more finnicky too. I play lots of Pharah and Doom, and they need consistent setups without any counterplay to pull off a 6k. However, with mercy? Just press q and hope you don’t die before it happens.
At high rank, actually, yes. Mercy flies in a straight line and there are plenty of Widowmakers in my games who can make that shot.
That said, I’m in favor of a mass resurrect with a short cast time, no invulnerability, and a 200hp AOE heal on successful completion. That would increase the opportunity for counterplay, but also ensure that Mercy gets to fight with her team from full health when she uses it right. It would turn 5-man Resurrect into something that you can only pull off by staying in the fight and starting the cast timer before you become a target.
In other words, all the glory of Resurrect as an ultimate without any of the problems presented by hide-and-res or wanting your critical health teammates to go ahead and die faster.
It would be objectively weaker than the instant res, but that could be compensated with a new ability on E. A toned down version of Valkyrie would be great, and would solve all of her remaining problems that she had before the rework outside of Resurrect. 3 second duration, 15 second cooldown.
Boom, Mercy fixed. I’ve been suggesting this specific rework for a long time now, but it kept getting buried in the megathreads.
The odds of that happening would be considerably lower though. For some reason, Blizzard have this thing about Mercy using her wings more than her Rez, so the chance of that happening is near to none. What could happen is the removal of rez entirely, as a majority of the megathreads have called out for the option on PTR for months.
a five man rez requires 5 people to be dead at one time within a 10 second window all within the range for rez. It was just as rare as a 5 or 6 man DPS kill and takes a perfect situation to pull off.
You know how many time I GA to an orb and my rez count would drop from 4 people to 2 because i move centimeter out of range, or a split second to long to rez the 4 man.
@Grey Both preferably. With an ability this strong, play is required, for example Zen’s trans being timed perfectly. The extent is another matter, however no GA to souls AND .5s cast time would be more appropriate than one or the other.
