Revert Mercy (20 characters)

I mean, balanced character picks in a competitive videogame, especially at higher skill tiers, is desirable.

Isn’t it?

Youre right, them being at 5 means they cannot get a kill on our 6, even if they use ults!

Okay then use one or two ults. Why blow them all when you know that the Mercy is hiding?

Dvaslays, you missed the point. You have the health, ability, and ult advantage if the enemy team has to use even one ult. Not only will your team, no doubt, get at least one pick, but they’ll also have fresh cooldowns, shields etc. When 5 man rez existed, rein would get a new shield, zarya would get her bubbles back, etc etc. It’s not just ults.

Who said use them all? The issue was she got multiple ults for her 1 and was incentivized to leave her team to die, hide in a corner, then go bring them back, it was terrible gameplay. You can pretend this didnt happen often, or was only done by bad mercy players all you want.

K I understand what you’re saying but her old was a niche and it was incredibly hard to pull of 5 man resses which is why most people tempo rez and continue to sustain their team with consistent heals.

There’s reason to believe that this was the case. I mean, when you hide, you’re putting your team at an incredible disadvantage.

It didnt have to be 5, hiding for 2-3 was usually more than enough. In the 5v6 fight if your team killed just a couple of people before the rez timers expired on say 3 dead teammates, the rez suddenly puts you at a 6v4.

It depends on the team structure. At the time of the Mercy nerf, dive existed, and made things difficult to pull of a 5 man rez. If it existed in the brawl meta, it’d be considered unstoppable, due to the team being in a tight, close proximity, making 5k rez extremely easy to pull off.
Although with doom and sombra about, 5k rez would be harder to pull off today.

Guess all the top500 mercy 1 tricks were just bad then. Happened alll the time in my top500 games. Broken SR was part of it, so was the value of getting her ult off. Not saying mercy was OP, cuz she was usually a liability and not that great during dive. Just incentivized poor gameplay which was the issue. Hiding and not healing your team to let them die was just awful to play with and against.

Those were pretty rare as well. Like I said, tempo rezzing was strategically better which is why I’m forced to believe that most Mercy’s didn’t hide and mostly tempo rezzed whilst actively healing their team. This post by titanium explains it well:

Watch the video. The video that was linked in response to your statement shows that Valkyrie is anything but proactive, engaging gameplay. It’s basically a montage of Mercy goofing off dancing on the ceiling while her healing beam stays on the same target and heals everyone with AOE. There’s also a part where you hear Jeff’s voice saying that Valkyrie is great for swooping in and saving teammates, while you watch Mercy in Valkyrie healing teammates that are dying anyway because it doesn’t do anything for her healing power and ability to save people.

Well its clear neither of us will change our minds, going back and forth on hiding being a good strat or a bad strat is pointless. Might as well just leave it there.

Jeez, I wonder why…

whisphers broken SR system.

Yep…

Once again. I am not talking about Valkyrie. I am talking about replacing the current reactive single hero rez, with a new (non Valkyrie) proactive skill.

Hell we even see boosted mercies nowadays. How times haven’t changed lol

Theres many more clips of 4 and 5 man rezzes where shes not hiding than where she is…

Well yeah… Valkyrie basically does nothing and is therefore pretty hard to screw up.
