Hello all,
To me, the most annoying thing in Overwatch is people sarcastically spamming “Thank you” in chat because they are toxic. I would say 90% of the games I have been in over the past months have had this issue. It is incredibly frustrating and demoralizing to have someone in your team spreading toxicity without anyway to mute it. It has reached a point where if someone says thank you to me in real life, I have a PTSD attack and snap at them. Also, I play on PS4, so I am unsure if this issue affects PC players to the same degree, but I can assure you it is a plague in the console realm. What do you guys think? Should “Thank you” be removed? Or should an option to mute players in-game voice lines be introduced?

I wasn’t aware that this was an issue. But people spam emotes and stuff all the time. The “Thanks” one is just one of many.

No. Because if we keep going down this route, we won’t have a voice chat, a text chat, any emotes, any voice lines, or any conversation at all. People will be jerks no matter what you do, and many people will be the nicest people on the face of the planet no matter what you do. Issue isn’t the tools they use to communicate, it’s the people themselves. That’s why there’s a report system. If you really think they’re being hostile, report them.

You snap at people in real life because they say thank you to you?
You probably need to unplug, as you apparently can’t tell the difference between a video game and the real life in front of you.

I do agree with the mute voicelines thing.
But I say thank you to my healers and Tanks and to anyone who actually groups up when I say it😁

They use it sarcastically when they are mad at the team…
If you have to report people for it in every game, there’s a very good chance that they’re not the problem.

Thanks. Character emotes. There’s no one voice option that someone in the game hasn’t spammed at one time or another during games I’ve played.
Just want to point out to everyone, OP is a console player.
And on console, People DO spam thanks in a sarcastic manner because it’s much rarer for people to be in voicechat to hurl abuse at one another.
