Seriously, she just came out, why is she in comp? I’m tired of getting Echo’s on my team- most of which can’t even play her. Keep her to arcade with the no limits or w/e, I don’t care. Just remove her from comp for the time being until she really is ready to be in there.
I know i’ve already made a post on it, but it’s just weighing on my nerves at this point. Every team has to have an Echo now and it doesn’t matter if someone is good or not- they have to play her. I’ve had someone throw an entire match as Mei because they didn’t get to pick Echo fast enough. Give Echo a temp hero ban in comp- there is absolutely no reason she should be in there so early

Ok but the enemy team is playing her just as much with equal experience/rage throwing so
It aint echo players causing you problems

Load into match > take echo > spam all abilities at other team > win because so much damage
I dont understand the issue here

This was asked frequently, and the general idea is that with Role Queue, the worry about new heroes appearing in Comp is not as critical as it was before. Furthermore, if she is played at high level games, she may be taken out for the next hero rotation cycle (though without her appearing in any of Overwatch League this week, that may be affected).

This is really stupid. If they want to play the new hero faster they can do it in quick play. When a hero is just released people aren’t familiar enough with the hero to play as, with, or against it competitively.

perhaps not every game, but in most games the echo on my team can’t secure kills to help our team which greatly hinders our ability to do anything… and they won’t switch to anything else even when they’re being countered hard

It is a little too late for that.
Then logic dictates this happens equally for the opposing teams echo
That the difference is negligible.
While it’s true that role queue does soften the blow to some degree, it doesn’t change the fact that – across the board – people haven’t really gotten a handle on how to play her just yet, and even if both teams happen to have Echo, it makes for a lot of (the BAD kind of) unpredictability and chaos that we didn’t normally have before.
Not to mention, the idea of her being unbalanced is a huge topic of discussion right now. She just came out, so even beyond angry silver-ranked players calling her broken, it doesn’t seem like she’s mature enough of a character to just dump into competitive play.

Already made above. It aint echo causing you problems
Having an equal amount of inexperienced players who want to play a new hero for the first time on both teams doesn’t mean that Echo’s presence is okay. I think the problem here is that comp has become a lot more like an arcade mode since her release, and that’s a problem for people who don’t want to play arcade modes.

Comp has been a mess since its inception. Echo may have made it more visible for you, but she aint the cause, shes a symptom
Echo is overtuned in almost every aspect of her kit. As frustrating as it is to have to play against a busted character, keeping her out of comp would have only delayed the inevitable.
With her being out now in full force, Blizzard can at the very least start collecting data on what does and doesn’t need to be nerfed about her kit instead of delaying meaningful data collection a week.

That is fair enough, I always sort of treat it like an arcade mode myself. And now with open queue, I can finally do that without being judged. Nobody whines about me being an Echo one trick either.
Throwing heroes who are most certainly going to be reworked/tuned in the coming weeks isn’t helping.
Not true. Suppose Blizzard, after seeing her pickrate and her performance over a 2-week period, let’s say, decides to nerf her. Then we’ve spent 2 whole weeks dealing with a hero that Blizzard themselves deem a mistake. Keeping new heroes out of comp for a short period was a wise decision, because everyone always flocks to new heroes to try them out, and the ensuing circus is no fun to play a part of, especially if your SR is attached to it. Even in Quickplay, people would be sick and tired of dealing with new heroes whenever they came out.
A hero being locked out of comp has absolutely, positively never stopped people from flocking to any place where they can try a new hero. You have people of all skill sets flooding arcade modes to play new heroes, and of course, the really good players are a part of this group, because they start working out strategies and ways to exploit a new hero’s kit.
Perhaps not, but in the context of how comp has barely changed in the years its existed, its an ocean piss
Simply dismissing the mess this has caused because comp’s life has been long and riddled with other problems isn’t an actual reason why this is okay.
