Ow is quite exceptional game.
One shots makes healing useless, ie, the main ability of 2 heroes in the game.
wait till these guys play any other fps, there are so many oneshot weapons like in csgo, but no one is complaining bc at least you can respect their aim, but in overwatch these players have been playing one of the most forgiving games and whine the moment a skilled player punishes them
Should TF2 remove one shots bc there is healing in the game? Should battlefield, COD or any other major games remove one shots bc there is healing? This argument does not make sense.
They’ll just cry about it, like now. Sad people be here.
Sure it does.
If you have heroes who mainly do only healing, like lifeweaver, and then you have heroes who can just one shot heroes so lifeweavers healing is completely useless, its not good design imo.
That’s how burst damage works, thanks for coming to my lecture.
Burst damage is different from oneshots.
One shots is nothing BUT burst damage. Try again, come again with a better argument. Please think.
well that depends on the definition. i’ll leave the semantics argument to rest.
There are only two characters that can one shot squishies, I used to be a support main and used to get pissed that my teammates died before i can do anything. BUT then i discovered that ranked players dont just get one shotted every second they peek a sniper bc they use their brain to move unpredictably, if they just get legged I can heal them
Yep, imo how sojourn one shot worked was the right way to do it for OW - ie you had to build it up.
You have to draw Hanzo’s bow and compensate for his projectile speed
Well yes, but SJ wont be spamming one shots nearly at the same rate anyways
So I’ll take that as you have no argument. Got it.
What? saying that burst damage works like that is no argument either.
Yet, my argument is sound. One shots negate healing completely, because it’s an instant burst of damage.
Next argument please.
And I said its not good design to have one shots in the game because they negate healing completely.
Ironically, without the OHK, they’d be worthless as snipers, who are known for one shotting people to the head, compared to characters like Ashe, Kiriko, Mei, Zenyatta, Torb, Cassidy, Ana, and even Sojourn. All of them except Sojourn can kill 200 hp in I think 3-5 body shots and 2, maybe 3 crits, all at faster rates btw.
Reduce crit multiplier, no incentive to aim for the head. In Hanzo’s case, Storm would probably get buffed since he’d need 3-4 crits out of 5 arrows to kill 200-250 hp otherwise. He would probably also see his body shot damage buffed to 150 tops for the same reason as Widow below.
Reduce body shot damage so crits can’t OHK, ROF gets buffed to help them keep up with the aforementioned mentioned characters since they’d be killing 200 hp in just as many shots at a much lower speed compared to them.
Also in Hanzo’s case, no OHK means no logical reason to not revert the 33% size nerf from early in OW1. And depending on how fast his default fires, Storm would need a buff, rework, or replacement to ensure it’s differentiated sufficiently from his regular bow.
In Widow’s case on the crit multiplier, that actually got buffed early in OW1 to accommodate losing 25 on her body shot to keep crits at 300. Nerf that so she can’t OHK 200-300 hp, there’d be no good reason not to revert that nerf to body shots. No long distance OHK means she would likely get back her range and her health too.
As much as you may hate one shots, I can guarantee you that losing them will only end poorly for you. Without significant buffs to accommodate, even people like Arrge and Kenzo would be hard pressed to make these characters look good. They’d be throw picks even if they, like Torb and Symmetra did in OW1, essentially got 4 gold medals and won the match.
I think hanzo without one shots could be made to work pretty well. Widow would be trickier to keep her unique from the rest of hitscans though.
He at minimum would need more spam, mobility, and larger arrows. He would probably be easier to work with than Widow, but considering he’s a projectile hero who has to charge his shots for full damage/ range, he would still be all over the place in regards to his generalist play style.
