He’s like widow. As long as they have a one shot, they will never NOT be broken.
Any hero who’s design is centered around a one shot that is literally their primary fire, will always be fundamentally busted.

unfortunately widow and hanzo players will straight up gaslight you otherwise.
But at least widow requires aim. I played a match where hanzo one shot me THREE TIMES out of stealth as sombra. Just beacuse the hero is insanely broken and can throw watermelons in people’s general direction and get lucky KO’s. Once is already lucky enough, but THREE TIMES? A sniper should under no circumstances have a 1HKO hitbox that giant to literally BLINDLY kill someone who they cannot see

well… on other games the snipers have longer reload time, bad movement , big hitbox or something like that… but on ow… you also will have a mercy pocket haha

Could you imagine if people considered Reaper a 1shot hero.
Cuz like, he is. But his 1 shot requires such setup and idiocy from the enemy it almost never happens

anyone who says that, you should probably ignore for the sake of your own mental health.
As long as a hero has a one shot… they will be at the bare minimum un fun. Now if that one shot is their PRIMARY form of damage? There’s no balancing that outside of removing said one shot or straight up butchering the rest of their kit.

yea fr as a hanzo main i can tell u how to not get 1 shot as much the what do is dont be predictable and trust if u play hanzo for a season u will lagit know how u should deal with him by seeing ppl who also knows how to in the shoes of the hanzo
I don’t think he’s broken, I just think he and Widow are badly designed and fall into that tier with Ball, Pharah, Sombra and Doom where despite them being “balanced” their kits are just inherently unfair and unfun to play into.
There’s not really any numerical change you can make to not completely dumpster the character, it’s going to take actual reworks and I don’t think Blizzard will bother committing to that.

Both him and Widow are always going to be broken. One shots from 20 miles away with no drawbacks is completely unbalanceable.

Rein can firestrike you twice, charge and kill you with a wallslam. Earthshatter and kill you with a Firestrike follow-up.
Sigma can knock you down with Accretion and a primary fire follow-up for a kill.
Roadhog has Hook combos
D.va just needs to Call Mech or Self-Destruct and you’re dead. Or she can combo with primary fire, missiles and boosters.
Junker Queen can knife you, pull you back and Carnage on the return for a kill. Or even headshot you on return for a non-healing kill. Or… likewise, headshot you then knife you.
Wrecking Ball can bump you, follow-up with a Piledriver, and shoot you on the way down for a kill. Or bump you into his mines.
Orisa can stun you with a Javelin and then pump you with shots for a kill faster than you can recover from a wall-slam stun, or use her ultimate for a kill, or combo.
Likewise Doomfist can Empowered Rocket Punch you can follow up with Handcannon shots for the kill faster than you can recover from a wall-slam stun. Or he can Meteor Strike or environmentally kill you or combo you.
Ramattra, Winston, and Zarya are really the only ones that don’t have an immediate one-shot kill; though Winston now has a one-shot kill combo, it’s not exactly guaranteed. Winston also can environmentally kill you, but almost requires Primal Rage for that.
All of these are more heavily controlled by cooldowns and some combination of mechanical aim and circumstances, but they’re also more reliable than the random Widowmaker or Hanzo. The more skilled Hanzo and Widowmakers (and even Junkrats, Bastions and Meis) can be just as deadly on the kills, but tend to have a much higher… wall to climb to get the same results.
not one of those you mentioned is a one shot except for Dva’s mech

I’m having flashbacks to when Hanzo was initially reworked into the most broken hero to ever exist in Overwatch, and it’s terrifying to remember that. It took them 6 months to realise they’d broken him with 2 (or was it 3?) second lunge CD, like 8 Storm arrows with 90 (I believe) damage each, hitscan (more or less) arrows and it basically kicked off the S10 double sniper Rein/Zarya meta.
He’s at least not in that place now, but absolutely still the best duelist hero in the game, at all ranges.
yea, that’s what kicked off double sniper. It totally wasn’t the fact that they released some support hero that mega countered a combined 6 character comp that hard countered widow/hanzo.

It was the rework of Hanzo; it would have happened regardless of Brig, but yes, Brig was a factor and equally a monster.
