Remaster of ow 2 with unreal engine 5

That would be nice. That would require for max settings rtx 2060.

I remember when Remasters were bringing 90’s game back to a new generation.

Now it’s just a sleazy cashgrab. Horizon Zero Dawn getting one lmao

hell no, unreal engine games might look nice, but all of those engines chug and make gaming on low end PC’s impossible, their engines are notorious for being super unoptimised and are there to showcase ray tracing which isnt even relevant in an online FPS

ABSOLUTELY NOT. :exploding_head:

contrary to what people complain about “blizzard quality” online, the game engines of their titles are almost all specifically created and designed for that video game genre. it allows games to be created in total originality and autonomy of functions, instead of being subject to limits managed by the creation program. it is also one of the reasons why we do not have so many IPs Blizzard, a company that is 30 years old, they literally manage almost every new graphics engine from scratch, and it is a very rare thing but also better in terms of construction.

an extremely good example is that of Croteam, which has its “Serious Engine” has excellent stability in its games that require a lot of enemy units in the arenas (the serious sam series). or the Valve source engine, which gave the possibility of building the complex physics technology of Portal. now think for example of EA’s Frostbite: it imposes that game engine in many of its titles, but there are very few that adapt to it without heavy technical compromises. that unreal has this defect, and it is also one of the reasons why people often worry about this type of news.

the only real advantage to switching to Unreal is only from the point of view of hiring: it is very easy to find young engineers who have based their training on the logic of some standard software (such as unreal or unity) and this allows you to immediately have new collaborators who know how to move within the work software. but by doing so you really standardize the creativity of the game in a very restrictive way to updates of the software itself, while with independent graphics engines you can amplify or simplify what you want and where you want, both on a technical level and on a functional level. It takes time to understand or tweak, but every single technology they develop (you’ll often hear in Overwatch tech interviews “we have this technology that allows us to do this”) they can leverage almost infinitely in the development process.

instead, i would encourage other departments that really need fixing: the servers (security, and stability) and technical support to the public (not bots). those are the real problems of overwatch, and it’s not going to make it better by having widowmaker’s a*s more reflective on an 8k screen.

What would really be the benefit of this? Ray tracing? Nobody is going to do that in a competitive shooter. CSGO2 didn’t even bother adding it, and this is a game with physics based pond scum.

will never forgive EA for doing this to Mass Effect Andromeda, resulting in putting the scifi GOAT on ice for nearly 10 years now.

Urm… It’s not? 100% is

There still some of that happening.

We’re getting remake/remaster of Croc LotG and Gex trilogy :grin::grin:

No, Unreal Engine 5 is overrated :expressionless:.

Playstation is at such a low point right now, funny how they say they have no IP’s to use while Astrobot had a BUNCH of them. Playstation at this point is just movie games that make critics think they are a part of something.

This game has a cheese factor to image quality for a reason and that is because its fewer stutters.

A game that has the most amazing graphics out there would require a gaming pc that sets you back almost 1,000 dollars in a GPU alone. Just get this level of smooth gameplay that we already have.

It means that textures aren’t going to be sharp and realistic. but more like a “comic book” appearance just because it has to run smooth.

Crossplatform is bad enough, i dont think this would be good for the game.

Actually this is done for more reasons than just making money. Since it costs so much to make AAA games these days, it’s cheaper to train newbies on company whatnots by making remasters. At least that’s what I heard, I’ll see if I can find my source shortly.

Meanwhile, Bloodborne crying in a corner :sob:.

I wouldn’t say it’s overrated. Just misunderstood. People think you just import your existing assets into a different engine and somehow the graphics automatically become amazing.

I also heard from a dev that UE doesn’t do well with high framerates, so it might not be a great fit for esports titles. That’s just one person’s opinion of course, but they certainly know more than me.

that is lierally one of the worst engines to workwith its worse than the snowdrop engine

UE5 is a all-purpose engine, so it is not optimized for any platform of type of game, which makes it less efficient than specialized engines.

A game like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild or Tears of Kingdom would never run on a platform like the Switch if it was make with Unreal Engine, even if they had the exact same textures, models, shaders etc…

And despite claiming be a realistic engine, UE5 lacks a lot of things that exist in real life, such as caustics in real time.

Yay Overwatch 3! Same as the previous two, but with more microtransactions and less content!

Isn’t OW2 running on a PvE engine? I think UE5 would just be better all around, since it’d take extra time and effort to make a PvP engine. Well, more time than just porting Overwatch to UE5.

Why would anyone need that?
You don’t play pvp to stop mid match and stare at textures.

OW2 runs on a custom engine, an upgraded version of OW1’s engine, it is not very flexible, but is less demanding than UE5.

This sounds like a bad excuse for poorly made textures, which is not OW2 case.

Texture are everywhere in every game, you don’t need to stop and stare to see them.

OW’s textures are fine, if you spend more time looking at the textures than playing the game I would be kind of concerned
