Yeah I know, OW had a lot of problems, but graphics/quality of textures wasn’t one of them.
I believe that is the case for OW2 too, but i never played .

Other than making it run like even bigger crap, what is even the logic behind remaking a cartoonish style game in a hyper realistic engine?
Dragon ball sparking zero is a cartoon game made on unreal engine 5.
It really wouldn’t. You’d kill off a lot of older graphics cards, and Unreal Engine 5 is a mess of an engine to work in. Despite being free to use, Godot, Unity, Game Maker Studio and other still have thriving communities. Unity less so than the others but you get the point.
Changing a game engine for fun is not the go.
Artistic stylisation is not a concession to get games to run smooth. Node based materials cost computational power to run, and anything requiring compositing means you have two angles to optimise now. Consistency is a lot harder from an artistic side as well between assets.
Photorealistic materials are simpler to make by far.
Yes. It is made on Unreal Engine 5. You can replicate cartoony looked in a ray-traced engine or in a raster one. I currently make stylised, clay-like cartoony characters in Blender Cycles (a path-traced render engine). However, I use Cycles because Eevee currently has a bug with normal mapping on the Voronoi Texture Node.
That being said. It was likely made in UE5 for monetisation purposes, and the fact that a lot of the industry is professionally trained in Unreal Engine 5. This does not make it an optimal engine, it just means it’s what their workforce was trained in.
You could achieve the same look in other engines, with better performance. UE5’s performance accolades only apply to ray tracing, and even then it’s much harder to run ray traced graphics than it is to run raster-based graphics.
I would love to see this game remastered in unreal engine 5 it could look amazing if you look at Marvel rivals that game looks absolutely incredible and truly next generation it could be the same with Overwatch!
unreal engine 5 is a turd compared to ow engine, its just easy and acessible to folks who cant build and maintain one.
I think the mobile version of Overwatch will use unreal engine 5 especially because it’s more cross compatible across more platforms like iOS!
No, it wouldn’t. It would play like doodoo in comparison.
The Overwatch engine is a piece of art. Yes, even after OW2. Can’t think of a single UE game that runs even close to this well. Whoever is responsible for the original code back in 2016 should honestly get an award. Idk what award, make one up.
only thing i would want in unreal engine 5 with overwatch is pve cinematics or lore stories
that would be cool but yea probably wont happen heh
Actually, it is very inflexible in some aspects, remember Echo’s ultimate limitation?
Really? Works fine for me, update your Blender and see if it fixes the problem, if doesn’t, report the bug, so devs can fix in the next patch (or Blender 4.3, probably…).
Nah, use a real render engine to this (Cycles, Octane, VRay, RenderMan etc…), Lumen is decent for real-time render only…
yeah the stutters that come along with ue5 sound great for an fps
Oh yeah, for sure. It’s made specifically for Overwatch and the way Overwatch was, some things it will have to be adapted to.
Doesn’t change that it plays smooth as butter It’s an amazing engine from a consumer standpoint.
No that’s not something they said at all.
That’s a missquote of them saying that they need the right team to continue series like sly cooper.
Do to them not wanting the Suzan game scenario were everyone hated the new game at release. (Even tho it was mostly fine, outside of a oddities and maybe to much focus on semi-openworld maps that is barely used)
they have IP, Be it some of the things they are best known for are not owned by them.
