I know the giant hole in the middle is supposed to be what sets that map appart from others, but I seriously feel like it might have too much of an impact on how its played. Orisa, Road, Lucio and Phara are basically mandatory. Simply because of how easy it is to knock people into the well. I wouldnt ask for the well to be removed, but I sure think it could have its radius reduced slightly.
The sheer possibility of falling down the hole makes playing the map feel incredibly oppressive. Regardless where you are on the point: Road can hook you in. Even if you stand behind shields Lucio and Phara can still knock you into it.
Maybe Im alone with this opinion but playing Ilios Well just isnt fun at all.

Red circle is basic idea and extending the pavillions size from orange to blue would make the green circle a slightly larger option.

I find the map refreshing and fun

It’s only fun when you play Lucio ;D
but on a competitive standpoint I have to agree with you, you can get a vital pick on a rein really easily.

Blizzard can you make the well at little smaller you barely have any room on the point so most of time your stuck fighting around the point. I know people like this map but I find it annoying.

I think you overestimate the power of boops. I rarely get booped on that map and when I do it’s usually because of a combo (i.e. pharah bombing behind me and roadhog hooking from the front). The range at which road is trying to hook you is pretty easily dodged, and the other boops are short range, you practically have to be in the well already.

No they’re not. They’re just really good on it. Which is completely fine, one of the main ideas behind this game is to have different maps on which different heroes can shine.
Personally I quite like the map. It calls for a bit of a different playstyle, you need to be aware of the possible boops and adjust your position accordingly. If you see a hog standing on the edge of the well, you know he’s looking for a hook. If you notice a Lucio flanking around your team, you know he’s looking for a boop. Play with these things in mind and the well won’t be a problem. Honestly, I don’t even remember the last time I was booped into it. It happens so rarely.

I like a map where poor positioning is harshly punished to be honest

I mean to give an Idea for a rework:
Instead of having a huge circle across the entire point they could make it a half circle across the side towards the mountain. Cornering against the big pavillion-esque structure. (red circle)

Alternatively the pavillion itself can be enlarged (orange to blue) to fit an even bigger circle radius (green circle).
I guess the pavillion opening towards the point should be kept open to still allow for pulls and movement.
I wish more maps were designed so that certain heroes / team comps are better on them, not less. Then we wouldnt have the same team comps over and over.

Its one map. Let the people have their boops.

I dont mind maps who cater more to enviromental kills than others. I just feel like Ilios Well takes it to a whole new (and imo unfun) level. Theres basically no spot on the point where you’re not in danger of getting pulled off the map. At least maps like Nepal Sanctum have “safe-spaces”.
That’s the point of the map. You actually have to pay attention to the enemy with movement CC. You can’t as easily use heroes that are seriously susceptiable to getting pushed around.

Personally I think its too much, though. Playing that map almost feels like a entirely different game sometimes.
Again, that’s the point. Not every hero, not every playstyle can and should work on every map.

Illios Well is iconic. Boop City shall not be changed!

We need MORE maps that are Hero Choice dependent, not LESS.

Where else are players supposed to play Orisa, Lucio, and Roadhog? Unrelated but ho dumb is it that it takes a giant pit full of free kills to make these three viable right now? I get that some heroes are supposed to be niche but wow.
