That defeats the purpose of crossplay. You’d rather have awful players who can’t play to the best of their ability than teammates with aim assist is essentially what you’re saying
Because people are gonna use this feature, might as well make it usable
This game is well known for having a lot of heroes that dont require a lot of aim, so Aim assist is really not needed.
Also aim assist is AWFUL in a game that does not have accel in player’s movements. That would make the gap between a plat with aim assist vs a plat with no aim assist stupidly big.
But you aren’t a console player so you don’t have the experience of playing with aim assist for 5 years and then switching it off, so you literally won’t understand. You’ll live on thinking we have legal aimbot or some crap when it actually just makes the game not completely unplayable
You wouldn’t have your games ruined by console players unless you yourself are terrible at it
And even then MMR still exists so even with aim assist people would be bad at aiming
But it’s a small portion of the community, who’d have to willingly go against other KB+M players. And if you’re cheating to get aim assist on console with PC controls, you probably don’t want a fairer matchup anyways. Why punish ALL console players for it
Console players aren’t getting punished really. They’re only disabling aim assist when you are grouped up with other pc players. Every other platform will give aim assist and PvE probably will too.
But I have PC friends I want to play with. If I do so my experience is worse, which weighs down the team, and now their experience is worse. It’s a terrible decision made by people who don’t understand console at all
Console match making is already a joke because of the prevalence of mouse and keyboard users, especially at higher mmr. We don’t need that garbage to leak over to pc as well. They might adjust console players mmr as they crossplay with pc players. But having players with mouse + keyboard and aim assist should not be made more common than it needs to.
If they really cared they wouldn’t have put console with PC but instead they’re going halfway and making it garbage for everyone involved. It’s an IMMENSE disappointment. And from the console perspective, it’s pretty selfish of some PC players to want to keep us down when it’s literally not even gonna occur in competitive. Is QUICKPLAY AND ARCADE really so important that you’d let 3 platforms suffer because you don’t like the idea that a small fraction are dirty cheaters? Because if so, take a look at the big picture.
You’re protecting the integrity of only your casual experience at the expense of everyone else.
This basically says it all. Nobody, not a single person on the blizzard team sat down and actually tried to play the console version of the game without aim assist before deciding to just remove it. I’m honestly dumbfounded right now. In preparation for the switch to PC so I could actually play with pc friends, I manually disabled the aim assist to try and adjust and omg, it was absolutely horrible and I was playing vs AI. Can’t even imagine how impossible it will be versus not just real players, but PC players to boot.
It’s such a stupid decision given that other crossplay shooters allow the native aim assist on console because, you know, it lets them actually play and enjoy the game to the best of their ability.
I’m an Ana main on console, my guy. The hell am I gonna do, play Mercy or Moira every game? Like, I wanna enjoy Overwatch.
You’re only looking at this one way for some reason. This change is huge for console crossplay. The console player base has basically just more than doubled with Xbox, PSN and switch. For PvE this will be huge too for console and pc crossplay. Sure the console and pc QP thing might be kinda weird but everything else makes this a huge win.
Yes, there are many positives, and I see that it’s great for consoles when it’s just consoles. But when they add the ability to play with my PC friends too, when they make that promise to me, I don’t want an unfun experience because I can no longer play as well as I know I should be with my controls.
I hope you see why this is so frustrating. I’ll have to completely remove tons of my favorite heroes from my roster if I so much as dare to play with my friends. In the intentionally casual modes only, because you still get PC only competitive where that XIM issue would actually matter.
It’s like eating a delicious piece of chocolate only to realize there’s a small razor blade inside. The chocolate is great, but the glaring issue stings pretty darn bad.
I can agree with that, big time… But then why not at least address that one area? If they want this feature to be a resounding success we at least deserve them giving us some really good reasons not to keep aim assist. Not BS, not silence. Otherwise it’ll be another OW update that’s mostly great… But with this one thing people complain about that gets swept under the rug for all time
