Any idea if this happens to other heroes?

There’re two other heroes that shoot multiple hitscans at once, being D.Va and Tracer(she shoots two shots at once).

Now that’s interesting… Do Tracer’s pistols do half their regular damage when one is behind a wall?

I don’t believe so, no.

I think in overwatch bullets mechanically come from the hero’s faces and the guns are only visual.

Welp, quick testing on the practice range seems to demonstrate they work just like Reaper’s but since they are alot less… y’know, bursty you dont see it as much, tho its exactly just it, Tracer’s shots or both bodyshot, or both headshot, same with D.va, always same damage on bodyshots, always same damage on headshots, as i had suspected, its how their hitscan are programed, going thru creating a whole spread seems like the option they didnt take… wich… i’m not a fan.

That’s pretty interesting. Any idea what having one headshots, one bodyshot equates to on Tracer? Like, is she being given free headshots here or she being denied deserved headshots?

Good question, its probably exactly how it works on Reaper, they go through chances , maybe 46% of the time her “spread” headshots and 54% of the time it bodyshots and thats what decides if she gets both in or both out…

You know, because I never tested Reaper’s spike damage inconsistencies or saw them tested like this before, I always thought his inconsistent weapon damage was due to latency issues. This is a great find, and it explains so many frustrations.

Testing against the bots in practice range, Reaper does not seem to be the only hero with this problem. D.Va’s shots also seem to either all do normal damage, or all crit. That makes me wonder if any other heroes have similar issues, but it may be a problem isolated to hitscan shotguns.

I know overwatch isn’t perfect when it comes to game mechanics (not even close) but this?!

They have absolutely no idea how to make stuff function correctly. Reinhard’s ultimate is FUNDAMENTALLY broken to the point they have to rework how it’s programmed…2 years after release and now I find out this :slight_smile:

This needs more attention. If you can do that calculation about how many hit the head and how many hit the chest, it’s insanely easy to do a damage calculation for REAL damage. Considering you already have quantity and damage value variables.

So instead of doing the hard work of simulating every pellet they look at a spread based on where a character aims, and calculates damage from that.
