Reapers hide then ult to kill 4-6 people is unfun to play against. Can we do something about that?

Mercy had to watch for:

  • Snipers
  • CC

Reaper has to watch for:

  • Snipers
  • CC
  • Barriers
  • Knockback
  • DM
  • Deflect
  • Enemy support ults

Many people don’t like to acknowledge that literally everyone plays hide and seek with their ultimates before using them.

I DO AGREE WITH YOU THOUGH.
It’s an ult for an ult! (Unless your team wasted 5 ults to kill the team, then it’s a punishment wasting your ult bank.)

Can Reaper kill people through walls?

Under the assumption that you’re actually trying to make a serious comparison, here are the differences:

  1. Reaper does damage over time, at 170 DPS so you quite literally have more than a second to react even at point blank range.
  2. Reaper can be stunned after using his ult, not just before.
  3. Reaper can be killed while ulting.
  4. Reaper doesn’t have Guardian Angel or any other high-mobility skill to actually get into the enemy team, only a much slower mobility skill or a painfully slow teleport that leaves him vulnerable.
  5. Reaper can be DMed or stopped by barriers, or simply booped away.
  6. Reaper has to actually have LOS.
  7. Reaper can just straight up be killed while ulting, through burst or focus fire.
  8. Reaper has absolutely atrocious falloff while ulting.
  9. Reaper’s ult has a long use-time and can’t be canceled, leaving him highly vulnerable under the many above circumstances where it can fail.
  10. Reaper is a terrible hero who’s seen less playtime than Mercy at every level of the competitive ladder including when Mercy was at her lowest, and even in freaking quickplay, so you almost never even see his ult in the first place.

That’s why 1.0 was better.
Mass Rez had counterplay. She was vulnerable even if she did use it. And if she died, it was a 5v6 and a free win if your team knew how to focus fire.

I like to believe most Mercys weren’t doing the hide and wait tactic.

But the difference between a DPS hiding before Ulting, is that they’re hiding before a team fight, not during.

Only the Glory Mercys did that , TBH. Otherwise, they were with their team.

Edit: AKA the Mercys who wanted POTG and didn’t feel like healing everyone and legitimately though that just ressing their team would let them win.

How exactly does Mercy not have to worry about Crowd Control or Knockbacks? Seriosuly? Mei can’t freeze her or Junkrat knock her back or Kill her with one bomb/grenade?

The range of reapers ult is OP anyways. You could be a good distance back and still die. Even during Mercy’s Valkyrie the range above reaper is dumb.

Most Mercys were with us. And when I played as her, I never left my team and would only use Resurrect when 2-3 people were down.

I think I only had 1 moment where I was like “Ok, where is our Mercy…I’m solo-healing as Lucio right now.” And when I died I saw her while I was spectating my teammates waiting to respawn, and she was just chilling in a corner.

Not cool, bro.

Junkrite, aimbot and wall hacks too please. :> You know what, let’s get rid of all ultimates!

Honestly, I’d be down for a “Zero Ultimates” mode.

After we do something about players making these types of comparisons and acting as if they’re the exact same thing.

Players compared OW to Fortnite, Rez to every other ult ever, and now Mercy’s old ultimate to Reaper’s current ultimate.

Please, stop acting like Mass Rez is still a thing. It’s not. It’s never coming back. Get over it.

Yeah. I hated Glory Mercys.
Like, what good is it that you don’t help your team stay up? Yeah, res was basically in case of emergency - whether for you or your team - to turn the tide.
Not to get POTG. DO YOUR HEALY JOB. >_>

Mass rez was fixable with the right changes, but the developers has chosen for a rework.

While resurrecting downed allies is a core part of Mercy’s gameplay, the way her Ultimate functioned was causing a number of problems. It was frustrating to play against, and it incentivized Mercy players to hide away from important battles, instead of taking part in them. This version turns Resurrect into a single target ability. It’s still an important part of Mercy’s kit, but plays much better for both Mercy players and her enemies. Valkyrie, her new Ultimate, gives her the opportunity for big game-making plays and opens a number of new options for her.

This was the reason they gave for the rework.
It was frustrating to deal with and it promoted a bad playstyle for mercy.

They have already stated (multiple times) that she will not get a revert, so I doubt we will ever see mass rez return.

Or my personal favorite, the Mercy’s that you killed first (because that’s what you’re supposed to do), but killed them too first so that by the time you wiped out the rest of the team she made it back to the point and revived everyone.

The mantra was always “you kill Mercy first or you kill her seventh”, but sometimes you had to kill her first and seventh.

If ya held your cults, there’s the counter… But let’s just talk about pure counters.

Hammond. Mine Field. Done.

Mercy stepping out of a team fight after the first death because she plans to use Resurrect was not the hide-and-res that most people complained about. The hide-and-res concept is about a Mercy who hides before the team fight just like damage players do, instead of taking part in the team fight from the start and trying to keep her allies alive, reserving Resurrect as a last resort.

Do you stand still and let Pharah barrage you as any other hero? No. You either shoot her or run away, then you come back with your own ultimate later. Mercy did the same thing there as anyone else.

1 second invulnerability after using E, so he can just E to the center of a group, and ult lol. It’d be a great scare tactic even if he didn’t have his ult.

If they don’t revert her to 1.0 or something, I have no doubt that the Mercys will never shut up. Unfortunately. I’m a Mercy main and even I’m kind of sick of all the Mercy threads. But, at the same time, Blizzard won’t listen to their community, ever.
It’s not successful if it’s boring. It’s successful if it’s enjoyable.
