Reaper, Hanzo and Mccree aren’t tracking characters in the way that Sym is. Her beam did a crazy amount of damage and on top of that it was comparatively much easier to track than other characters.

You can’t make things too consistent and powerful at the same time. It’s crazy that we have these whining threads every single time a character is overbuffed and needs to be dialed down. A character being a throw pick in the past doesn’t give them license to be overpowered in the present.

A sym getting potg without an ult on a regular basis says something.

Right. Because, Flashbang and Fan-the-Hammer are such skill plays, and much inferior to Symmetra’s slowly charging (but scary-sounding!) beam! >_<

the confusion for me is how they actually nerf a bad hero, like her beam is only 12m range, that’s bewildering, and what’s that to even top it off? it has to ramp up to be useful at all!
got orbs, that she needs to charge up to be even remotely scary and they are really really slow and has next to no splash radius with low splash damage.

just looking at this objectively, this looks really bad.

I can’t speak for other ranks, but Sym is OP af in bronze.

It’s not like her specific ult would factor into PotG selection, at all. It doesn’t damage, nor heal, nor cause environmental kills.

You’re missing the point, I’m not talking about her ult, rather the plethora of genji/reaper/phara ult potg.

Turrets often get PoTG.

Currently does 190 DPS at max charge. And shields reload her ammo for her I beileve. Considering her gun is a beam and is pretty easy to glance people and it takes pretty much 3 seconds to kill even the beefiest of tanks with very little mechanical skill. And that is without adding the turrets and their slow into the mix.

I have already made a post about Hanzo needing completely gimped. I don’t think Widow is really an issue if your tanks know how to play since barriers and if you have a decent Sigma shes useless. Ana is Ana and biotic grenade can receive a million nerfs but until they get rid of the purple health bars she will always be played.

Trust me there are character that need nerfed but a lot of them take actual aim and a fair amount of skill. Sym can just hold left click on shields and exude pressure mixed with the fact she can throw turrets behind a tanks shields (because shields don’t stop her turrets for some reason mid flight.) she can pretty much pressure a tank to death unless someoen picks winston and just 100% focuses her.

I’m actually going to bet that this change happened because Papa played against Symm on beta role queue himself and decided that no, as a reinhardt main, he can’t stand this counter and it has to be nerfed to the ground so hanzos, widows, doom and other exciting dps can continue reign supreme. This literally happened with ironclad bastion. Because apparently “symm turns into a powerhouse in low rank games if left unchecked” since low rankers can’t actually kill a symm lol.

But blizz balance team is pretty much a meme at this point when they nerfed sombra and brigitte and dva to the ground, but they aren’t touching doomfist.

I know it’s a meme, but I’ve never actually seen it.

See it this way: if you see a Symmetra turret PotG it only means the other team was too dense to shoot her 30hp, extremely obvious (and loud during flight, I might add) turrets.

They’ve changed her entire kit and they’ve nerfed and changed her changed kit, now all they need to do is retcon her in the lore so she’s 100% a different hero.

You can aim to kill them but thats more time your not putting into breaking a barrier or her team. And characters like reaper or road cant even kill a turret at relatively short distances because of the amount of hp they have. Sombra also has the same issue of her gun having so much spread that it takes longer than it should to break a turret when in its range.

I’m guessing you’re one of those players that got indirectly buffed because you can’t actually track-aim worth a – you don’t aim well and were the unintended benefactors of a fix to functionality that would have resulted in these nerfs LONG ago had the functionality not been bugged.

Sym and Zar were over-performing.
This is balancing, this is what it looks like.

What I find funny is how everyone complains about Sym being the only shield buster, are you guys really that clueless on what heroes are out there? Theres not that many but let’s name a few that destroy shields fast, Junkrat, Bastion, Hog and Orisa.

Those were the first 4 that came to mind, I’m sure there are more. Whilst I don’t think they should have touched the max damage so harshly, the beam width is justified because you get 180 Damage per second, let’s not forget a full HP dps has 200 hp, so they are basically dead in 1 second and if they stumble against a rock they are dead.

Sym has utility, her teleporter being one of the best offensive abilities in the game as you can safely transport your entire team past an enemy choke point.

She shouldn’t have amazing damage output, easy to use primary fire AND utility like that.
