⚡ [Quickplay] 3DPS Limit, not 2-2-2

Been thinking, if they were to give the most flexibility for Quickplay, while also maintaining a playstyle that encourages Tank/Healer usage beyond 4-1-1, or 5-1.

The easiest way to do that, is just to limit Quickplay games to 3DPS maximum per team.

Sure you’ll get plenty of DPSOnly Tanks/Healers, but overall this would be an improvement over what we have now.

You’ll also get some Leavers, but you’d get those regardless of what “Encourages better team comps” method you use.

Dear GreyFalcon, your ideas are interesting and yes, overall this idea here makes sense.

Nevertheless the actual big problem is not too many people using dps, the problem is pros using 3-3 and the devs trying desperately to stop them from doing that.

Trying to erradicate 3-3 the devs continue to nerf the tanks class and several support heroes. They will keep doing it until no one wants to play goats and those support and tank heroes will end up being competely useless.

I run into the problem you mention in QP all the time. That 4th dps (usually the last guy to pick a hero) makes me rage really bad and I get it. That’s why I actually only play QP with LFG.

Still, the biggest problem we have is that devs will continue to balance aiming to destroy 3-3 comps and that will hurt us all in the long run.

Best solution? enforced 2-2-2 with role que (no 2-2-flex. just regular 2-2-2).

Well, to prevent 3-3, all you need is to limit Healers to no more than 2.

Why don’t limit everything to no more than 2? Why it have to be exclusive to healers?

Why the need to prevent 3-3 anymore? It’s looking like it’s going from both the ladder and OWL; it was a balance issue for it’s dominance which is being rectified. No harm in it being an option, same with any meta; problems are when they become too dominant.

Because Healers perform a different function in the game than DPS/Tanks, and need to be balanced appropriate to how they function.

3DPS or 3Tank with 2Healer isn’t a gameplay design problem.

Becours then we coundt have thos godly 3-4dd comps wher they are still unable to kill a Mercy.
Jokes aside, its stupid and either limit all or non.

The same can be said for more than 2 tanks…

The rule I like is:

  1. No more than 3 of any role.
  2. Must have one of every role.

That eliminates 33, guarantees a tank and support in QP, but still leaves room for some experimentation and role switching within the team.

Quad tank is a cheese comp.
And 3 tank isn’t an overwhelming balance issue.

Wait till they add more barrier tanks into the game…

Limiting choices is not what the game is for. Everyone wants to play something they like. A limit will just increase leavers (as opposed to ‘some’) and not fix anything at all.

A fair statement, but not a problem that exists currently.

Fundamentally, “Games” don’t exist without limiting choices.

Bet one of the next 2 heroes is a new barrier tank.

And thus people won’t even bother playing. A game is supposed to be fun, not a chore or a job. If people want 2-2-2 comps or 3-3, they can form their own teams via LFG or discords. Those who solo want to pick what they want.

In QP your right, they shoud, in ladder they shoud look to win with the best team comp.

If anything, I’m trying to focus on giving as much variety as possible, while limiting things to promote better team comps.

Only thing 3DPSMax prevents is QuadDPS. (i.e. Anti-GOATs, or Quickplay cancer)
Only thing 2HealerMax prevents is TripleHealer. (i.e. GOATs and variants)
