⚡ [Quickplay] 3DPS Limit, not 2-2-2

Once again, balance is taking care of these things without the needs to enforce strict rules.

We’re already seeing Goats become more limited in use at the levels it was ever really used in the first place. It was never really about Goats though, so this seems unnecessary.

The problem, for the most part, seems to come from players complaining about multi-DPS compositions broadly in their QP games; where there are players who don’t just want to win, but also want to play and get used to heroes they don’t usually play in comp - either because they’re not confident with them, they’re new, or they’re just undertuned.

Well, you might be right about the 2Healer Limit. However a portion of what’s keeping that in check is 4-1-1 comps.

Although there has been 3-1-2 comps where they swap the Widow for an Ana. Because of how powerful a good anti-nade is on GOATs.
And because of the changes that made it so Ana rifle DoT ignores armor.

Which is what pre-established groups are there for. If anyone wanted to play a specific role or hero, they would, not pick something entirely different. We have 30 heroes as of right now; limiting choices will just drive away any intention to play at all.

There will be no variety. Once there is a limit, there will be a meta. And that meta will consist of only 6 heroes.

You didn’t pick Reinhardt over Winston? You’re getting reported for throwing! You didn’t pick McCree over Widow? Reported!

Just because there’s a limit it won’t magically make teams win any better.

If anything, I think a 3DPS limit would be a lot less restrictive than a forced 2-2-2.

Because its healing that synergies better with the tank health pools, and leads to breaking the game.

Healing synergies, coupled with healer utility synergies.

Restrict Healers to 2, and you’re going to be weak on something. Be it healing, speedboost, anti-dive, discord etc

Yep. A 2 hero limit on Healing, while also requiring 2 healers, and 3 Hero Limit on DPS would dramatically improve the game.

Well, I don’t think requiring a number of healers is the way to go for Quickplay.

Even a 3DPS-2Tank-1Heal comp would be an improvement over what Quickplay is now.

Comp, should probably end up with some sort of RoleQ

I’ll never get behind solo healing as a viable option for QP. Its garbage, and I hate it. I’ll solo tank before I’ll solo heal 100% of the time.

Perhaps, in your games. But like I said, huge improvement over the status quo, of 4-1-1, and 5-1 comps.

And to have a viable RoleQ you need a fixated restriction. So 2-2-2 is the only viable option. The matchmaker cannot guess if a team want to play 3-2-1, 2-3-1, 2-2-2, 3-1-2 or 1-3-2.

Well, if they decided against RoleBasedSR, then you could have 2Flex-2-2.

any 2/2/2 should be comp only IMO, quickplay should be left alone

And then we would still have 3-0-3 which everyone hates (despite never experiencing it)

Which might already be resolved at high tier, and isn’t a problem for everybody else.

And worst comes to worst you could still did 2Flex-2-2, with a 2Healer limit.

Heck, you could do 4Flex-2Healer with a 2Healer limit, and 3DPS limit.

Then why are we talking about restricting healers to only 2?

Because I’m not fully convinced “3Heal comps have been properly tamed”.

Especially since a lot of these “not GOATs” comps are just GOATs with Baptiste instead of Brig.

Please we need this. Quick play is terrible. And 6 to 5 dps never work at least 2 tanks and a Moira or Ana work or 2 healers and one tank also work

This is kind of the ironic thing, people seem to not like playing in 1-4-1 comps; but they love watching them in OWL.

How to square that circle?

4DPS playing as a coordinated strike team.

Versus 4DPS running around like chickens with their heads off, barely doing any damage, and trickle feeding the whole round.

Way I see it, is kinda sad that battleroyale games often involve more teamwork than Overwatch quickplay.

And for the first 20+ hours, Quickplay is the only thing that new players see.

This game is going to die of Quickplay remains like it is now. Because it won’t be able to grow the playerbase.
