Questron on Sombra

apologies if already on here, but when every topic is about her its hard to tell which ones i have and havent seen

a very brief TLDR would be that Sombra has been pushed too far into inefficiency (despite him thinking the design changes were good), requiring her to play in the most obnoxious way possible to get any value, which in turn gets viewed as “oppressive” and/or “annoying” to play against despite the fact that shes not getting a whole lot of value and generally speaking isnt very good

Oh, wow, such a unique opinion. I imagine his cattle might have shared it if he did not use the opportunity to leverage his channel instead. Glad Sombra mains listen to him. Seriously, I actually am. I owe him quite a bit of thanks.

Sombra sexy. Hence the hate.

The reason is she has too many game cheats installed that’s why she is a problem.

She can tp , walls, be invis, can disable abilities and ults, dmg boost, dot dmg, very good ult, can deny resource medpacks pylon turrets while making resource exclusive to herself and team on medpacks.

I’m sure I’m still missing half the stuff here as I don’t know what garbage they have added on top in perkism.

When you bloat a hero this much with cheats you have little chance of piwering anything properly and what Q says happens as a result of it.

If they are honest with themselves they should first address this problem and stop gaslighting players as oh they feel oppressed on the few occasions I press all cheat code properly.

The sombi child kit is bloated enough to make all 18 of torb children individual kits from her kit .

Address that first .

I don’t expect reasonable discussion here :joy: but one can always hope for one good sombi :joy:

I kind of agree with him but not fully.

I believe people dont hate Sombra because of playstyle or balance.
They hate playing against her because they enjoy playing on autopilot and Sombra as a stealth hero punishes that. She forces people to play in a way which stresses them out.

Since she has full stealth, you cant position yourself in a way which makes you completely save. If a Widow threatens you with a one shot, thats really annoying but if you know her sight lines, you can play somehwat around it by playing cover or hide behind a tank.

Against a Sombra youre constantly on edge. “What if she pops up behind me right now? Or she comes from this angle instead? What about this high ground?”

Youre constantly in their head because they cant rely on their vision.
Tracer is seen as more fair because you can see her coming.

I dont think we will solve this issue without removing full stealth.
Maybe you make it more like stealth from the Metal Gear series where you still can kind of see the siloutte and as compensation shes way faster or gets dmg resistance or something which keeps her alive.

For reference, i have something like this in mind
Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain: How To Unlock Stealth Camouflage (Temporary Invisibility)

A good video, I agree with a good chunk of it. He’s grounded.

I’ve seen that suggested. Honestly, might as well remove it. Even in Halo, it was ridiculously easy to spot. That ability is more of a liability than a privilege at that point

Honestly, I’d just want it on a separate cooldown than translocator so you can mess with individual cooldowns and it means she’s more vulnerable.

Well the idea is to rely less on the stealth aspect but more like a general movement tool.
Even if youre spotted, at least youre harder to aim at.

And this would need compensation buffs of course.

But none of the ways she has played have been anything less than obnoxious though

The issue is that the haters dont even know what they want.
“Nerf hack, buff dmg” used to be the common suggestion of Sombra haters during OW1 days.
Now hack went from 6 seconds, first down to 5 seconds, then for OW2 to 1.5 second and even lower now. Hack isnt any less hated than it used to be and people now complain that Sombra kills them on top.

I think we never fix an issue when we always need to give a compensation.
Then the compensation becomes an issue and the cycle never ends.
We can give her the invisibility shine without having to buff something else.

I know exactly what I want.

The idea of a fix is not just to make her less annoying to play against but make her viable on top for those who play her and those who have to play with one on their team. If she just becomes a throw pick, people will pick her to grief and she becomes report bait. Thats not a fix.

I don’t think the invis shine, if implemented properly would make her a throw pick.
In need of some kind of buff that might just put her back to hated status.

Would you want a Sombra with that stealth nerf on your team in your comp games?

Depends how good the player is, really.
If it makes the game overall healthier I’m not going to complain.
Once again, it can be implemented in several different way and we would have to be very specific

Notice how he evades the straight answer

People will start out to be bad, they will have to learn how to play around the nerf first before becoming good. Do you think people here would give them the benfit of the doubt? Or report for griefing instead?

I didn’t. It’s called nuance.
More people should use it.

That can be applied to every hero that gets a major change. Not specific to Sombra.
