Sure but you stated you would only accept the Sombra if the player is good, But nobody will start out being good with that nerf. So it wont fix the hero.
I understand where heâs coming from, I disagree with his conclusion, but largely because I still fundamentally think the design direction of OW2 is flawed.
In OW2, the game is WAY more about damage and lethality, like a game of deathmatch. And in this sense, it makes sense that having an âall or nothingâ style of engagement is a bad design. Having mechanisms that allow her to stay in and do more tempered damage over time without being either totally bursting someone down ot completely failing an engagement makes sense in that aspect.
But respectfully I think the design of OW2 is just fundamentally flawed. The game really shouldnt be about that combat. OWâs biggest strength was itâs unique gameplay and teamwork. It wasnât about pew pewing and killing targets, it was about making intelligent plays to outsmart your opponent. Make better use of your cooldowns. Position in ways to mitigate the effectiveness of the enemy. Capitalize on weaknesses and vulnerabilities. This is largely just gone in OW2. So many heroes have been reworked to be less vulnerable as a means to cater to âindividual impactâ and âreducing hard counters,â but ultimately just ends up feeling bad when other players can make mistakes and still get a lot of value.
A simple example, IMO is Zarya. Having double bubble on a shared cooldown was one of the worst changes they could have made. It gives her too much flexibility and misusing a bubble means that you cannot capitalize on it. If she misused self bubble, she used to be vulnerable. Now she just has another get out of jail free bubble to escape with. Or she can just double bubble people (including herself) to give huge windows of invulnerability that the enemy team cannot do much about.
I think the game needs to switch back to focusing more on unique interactions. Having a strong hack was rewarding, but also had plenty of counterplay and tradeoffs in her kit. She was low damage, and had to work with her team to get value. Hack targets had to be more selective â some were higher value (like doom and ball), while others much less so. She didnât just burst down anyone she came across with extra damage buffs and an easy to land projectile that bursts people down. I dont think her downtime in OW1 was a problem for her or the enemy. I agree it created a moment of feast or famine where bad sombra players could kind of anchor their team, but I dont really see that as an problem. Thatâs just a skill issue, and I dont think the game should cater towards making sure everyone can play every hero without being ineffective.
I believe they answered it perfectly fine. I do not believe a garbagio Sombra player would be any more helpful on a different hero so the point is moot. Itâs not the hero, itâs the player. And I suck at my hero regardless, so I cannot really judge them. I will ALWAYS prefer a Sombra with me than against me to begin with.
That being said, fake stealth is stupid. That idea is never going to work.
What do you mean by âacceptâ first of all?
I can not want a Mei on my team because I just hate walls, but it would depend how they play. But want and accept are two different meanings
The key issue is itâs not a good experience even when you are owning the sombra , its just non dopaminic even on hanzo feels like thankless watchman duty.
In this game just see the free value she gets by existing I have to keep hunting and I do but itâs just like scratching chalk on board.
In second round i pretty much zoned her and owned her reapetedly not letting her get in, in third round out tanks folded first fight and we gave a huge lead , I also angered their moira enough and she solo ulted me lol , also messed up a duel.
Also their tank cheaped out with ramm against our rein.
They won
It was still close and I fought well but sombi child watchman duty and is just brain torture for many that not even widow can achieve but the sombi achieves it by existing thatâs why people donât want to see her in the match.
Itâs not cause she is op or sombra mains are 200iq geniuses outplaying with extraordinary skill, itâs just pure existence of a extremely unpleasant experience in a otherwise enjoyable game even against way more op or oppressive heroes.
ps also I die in some pretty funny ways first round no comments on that
Same with Destiny 2, you can still hear characters using Invis, and see a slight purple smoke haze where they are.
Your answer to if you want that nerfed Sombra on your team in your comp games.
âDepends how good the player is, really.â
Yes, it depends how good the player is.
The only hero I ever âwantâ is a rein.
I will âacceptâ them regardless.
I think OW1 sombra would also be a VERY popular ban pickâŚI donât know that thereâs ever been a version of her that people liked
Okay, let me rephrase that. Would you feel just as content with a Sombra pick on your team as compared to a Sojourn or Tracer or any other viable hero right now?
And how do you think your other teammates would view it?
Only with the ARG before she came out
Regarding the hypothetical changed Sombra? Yes.
They arenât me. I donât speak for them.
IâmâŚconfused.
It sounds like they are in favor of simply nerfing a hero with no compensation. I.e., add a shine on her stealth and change nothing else to compensate.
If that is accurateâŚthat doesnât seem ideal for any hero unless they are overpowered.
They didnât even like that because people cracked it too soon and had to wait, like, a month or something for a timer to reset
Assuming youre honest here, i think you are more tolerant than the average OW gamer.
Thats an important question regardless because the devs look at overall community sentiment and not just 1 user.
Whats the point in spending time and recoursses into this, if most people will complain anyway. Just that the hate switches away from the enemy team to Sombras teammates.
I know what I want, I want Sombra to not have her teleport or at least for it to not cleanse statuses off of her
I wonât trash the player because their hero was made overall less toxic for the communities sake. My only rule is do your job, I donât care who you do it on.
Then you shouldnât expect me as one user to answer for one thousand
As a group. Everyone has their own idea of what they want to see gone. And even if they get that, they end up unhappy because Sombra does something else now which annoys them just as much or even more.
At which point the haters only have common ground on banning her because then you dont have to deal with her at all.
I havenât finished the video yet, only just started it and Iâm going to go make a cup of coffee before I start it again.
But may I just say, I have no idea who this Questron guy is, but I didnât know that in 2025 you were legally allowed to be a streamer/internet personality and also be a reasonable, rational human being who expresses their opinion without pretending every inconsequential thing is the greatest travesty humanity has ever seen. I thought that was outlawed or something.
Itâs quite refreshing.
I think only ball/doom players would try to ban Sombra. I think most other people didnt have much of an issue with her. I do not think sheâd be very heavily banned in OW1.
She would have been simply because people didnt like her on their own team. For the most time, people reproted you for playing her assuming you were trolling.
High silence duration was compensated with low lethal dmg. Which meant she required team work, but most didnt even want to join voice chat, let alone want to hear from a stranger telling them what to do.
