I still prefer a low amount per win to deter dps one tricks and keep people flexing long term, specifically people who want to as opposed to people willing to throw a match here or there for quick queues after the fact.

Yep. Priority pass it up and when they’re not available just go QPC and practise there. Learning Cree/Echo/Tracer and polishing my rusty Pharah skills works without tanks or healers anyways so might as well go QPC with that
I mean support is probably the strongest role in the game right now very close to DPS. I used to play a lot of Zen/Lucio actually so Zen becoming meta has worked out for me perfectly considering that Ana is usually always instapicked in the matches and when she’s not, Bapo76 is actually really fun to play too as a main healer and to learn how to play
I probably won’t. Even if we get more fun and strong tanks, it’s irrelevant to me. I already really like tanking with a passion so there’s already plenty of fun and strong options to go for, but the way the game treats tanks right now in terms of matchmaking and through balancing is just unacceptable for me personally. I just can’t enjoy the game anymore this way
I would remove it.
It doesn’t fix a thing, it breaks things that were working from the start (priority for backfill in qp), and team based gameplay.
Priority pass is like a bandage put on broken bone.
Players don’t want to play tanks cause they’re not appealing. NO “System” will fix that. It’s a design flaw.
To make it worse we have no idea how this system works.
Around what does it balance matches? Is it possible to get 4 flex against 4 mains?
It’s just totaly destroys last pices of competitiveness in game and hands it out to RNG machine.
Why would you even try to win if since flex q everything is decided the moment you step in to match.
“pass tank” already is a term among my immediate circle of players.
I guess it’s a good thing tanks have decreased in impact???
What did you expect people who never played tanks to suddenly master them in a day?
It’s not priority passes fault they suck its dps abusers fault for never wanting to tank/support. Now all of a sudden they want to reap the benefits of passes too and w/e fine by me.
i see your point. i also see why they implemented it tho, i bet their internal numbers showed a dwindling number of players leaving the game. i bet people gave reasons and “queue times” being one of them. so they made the whole system up so the game doesnt slowly bleed out.
it all started with the 2-2-2 role in my opinion. they shot themselves in the foot with that setup. now that the player pool is shrinking naturally the “ONLY tank player base” is probably the first players that left.
I’m not expecting them to get good in a day.
If they’re so bad they shouldn’t get matched around their dps SR/MMR.
and start where every new acount (in my opinion) should which is bronze.
You’re new you’re pice of **** that needs to prove they belong higher, that’s how it should work from the start, and with this we have a ladder.
Now we have a scale, you start plat and either slide down and bring some players with you or you run up.
No game sense no aim nothing and you’re named plat from the get go.
Maybe it worked at begnining of OW but players changed the skill flor of plat is different to the plat from 2016.
You would just be forcing people to terrorize low ranks. Maybe low gold is where the entry should be to at least not disrupt people who are not at that level.
I agree with starting at bronze. Still if the ranking system works as it should then you simply have to bare the initial wave of tank noobs as they rank down over time. The pass system is more of a long term investment.
You can place ppl where they should be with 5 matches.
bronze match | silver match | gold match | …and so on
you move up only if you win previous one.
If you lose the SR difference for match gets lowerd till it places you where you belong.
Reset MMR/SR every 6 months and give players a week to play their placements.
Initial chaos with posibility of players with “I’m wrong rank” midset to get a chance to get higher.
After that half year with strict ladder and if you come between “chaos” periods you start bronze.
This is the same thing for Mercy. You have so little agency in the team fight, and yet so much responsibility at the same time.
Man there is always something pointless to be mad about.
This is exactly what’s already happening and has been happening for years. Teamwork is going out the window. Now its just play the best most self-sustainable solo carrying heroes in a 6v6 deathmatch. Its why so many Supports and Tanks get frustrated and quit or say screw it and go DPS. Tank and Support are all responsibility and little to no agency. Meanwhile DPS has the highest agency and the lowest responsibility, so its the most fun and rewarding to play. Your job is clear and simple, shoot things. Tanks have no fun and get no appreciation for being the punching bags, but DPS will always be the first to blame the Tanks or Support for their own problems. So they get fed up and leave or swap to DPS and the problem only gets worse.
In my experience, tanks and supports just blame dps. And dps and tanks blame supports. And dps and supports blame tanks.
I feel like this is just confirmation bias, I personally haven’t noticed anythings
That being said tanks are weaker then they used to be and now it feels like things are heavily skewered on whether you have the better support players or not
what if blizzard just made them fun to play and not a stunfiesta
It’s the opposite.
When tanks and supports had strong synergies before the goats nerfs, a DPS flexing into tank would still be able to tank. A tank main on a main tank can solo carry a team, but a regular DPS flexing into tank can still work if he gets carried by the supports.
Then the nerfs came, tanks are now being balanced in such a way that only the top 1% can make full use of them, the tank mains on ladder, the people that actually knew how to tank left in droves.
And now with the passes, you have a game that has tanks balanced on the assumption that EVERY tank player all the way down to BRONZE has the skills of an OWL, but then being picked up by players that don’t even know how to tank (Even hog gets played as if he’s only 200hp!) nor have the motivation to get better (They play tanks like DPSes, and don’t actually protect the team).
With the pool of tank mains shrinking and DPSes being encouraged to replace them, you need tanks to actually be stronger to get the same value.
Quality vs. Quantity.
You can’t have both.
Yea but why blizzard chose for games and didn’t ask?
YouTubers pools, twitter, forums, Overwatch discord or that place where they ask for “balance” changes.
I wouldn’t mind such experiment if blizzard was able to admit they made a mistake, but history shows they won’t ever do it.
