While I understand it’s to get DPS queue times under control and get tank queue more populated, the level of tank play in ranked is already extremely low, so forcing DPS players to queue for the role for good boy points is going to make it even worse and ranked will feel even more inconsistent and frustrating.
And I’m gonna freaking suck when playing tank
let’s go!
Then you’ll have a low MMR and get matches with appropriate difficulty tanks.
Blizzard just ports over people’s main role SR in cases where they have few hours on the new role. It will take months of bad matches for everyone to drop to where they should be.
Oh well? I can’t really complain if they’re learning to tank. Most people will have established MMR for tank anyway, unless they’ve literally never tried it.
Personally I would complain if the ranked ladder in a game got flooded with inaccurately-rated players in the most important role but go off
Well, if they are gonna have that sort of troubled time, probably for the best they get that over with before OW2 comes out
Still waiting to hear what a glorified PvE expansion rumored to be barely 3 hours in length has to do with the health of the ranked PvP ladder
Eh.
It’s their right to play tank. They could just switch today if they wanted to.
Not much actually, aside from new content, marketing hype, and freeing up the development team.
Tbh, I was a huge proponent of this Fast Pass system over a year ago, and I don’t think it’s going to be that significant.
Maybe a 10% queue time savings over everything combined.
And it’s mostly going to just help Gold/Plat.
The real way to fix queue times is to finally design tanks like “Heavies” from the FPS genre instead of like they come from a MOBA.
I miss any "Tanks from FPS games"?
But yeah, end of the day, OW2 is a big marketing push to get people back into the game.
But after that is the struggle to follow through with player retention.
There’s match quality good one
Actiblizzard has most hands on OW2 and has had them there for like a year and half if not more.
Thats why you dont see the big changes and even reworks many heroes need right now, like for Widow, Sym or Bastion.
It’s going to make the game unplayable for a few weeks and then when DPS players realize that it doesn’t actually make them get games any faster, they’ll (hopefully) stop hard-throwing on tank and support just for the passes. It feels like satire that Blizzard is even considering handing out passes for losses, like really?
Be Zarya and cheese your way as a fat DPS.
Yes it will be a disaster.
You’re gonna be getting tanks and healers that aren’t very good.
You’re gonna get tanks and healers that will only do dps.
It should be set so you can queue for one of the 2 roles in need… It’s mostly support or tank. I would queue for support because I’m better at that and enjoy it more. I’ll most likely always get tank because it’s going to be the most in need. I don’t like tanking.
In the end I doubt I will even use the new system.
And they will be quickly placed in the appropriate sr for those roles.
“Quickly” is wrong. It is going to take months.
Isn’t this the same argument when role queue was implemented? Also the same argument when priority queue was implemented. Yet, the games still have the same good quality.
I’ve watched them systematically destroy main tanks for over a year, what else is new?
so many people will be coming back to the game. new things like priority pass will keep them here, since OW2 gives access to comp. Yeah, new mmr on diff role will suck, but a lot of players already established their sr, for comp points, so there won’t be too many ‘out of their rank’, if they already put it into the system, and for the rest, most role sr differences are within ~700sr. People new to tank will most likely be falling from their main mmr sr to get to their tank sr, but remember, that there is also players that are better at tank than their main sr, but don’t play tank anyway.
It’s for the best :v
