As someone who has more tank hours than dps I can tell you that I will spend exactly 0 hours, 0 minutes, and 0 seconds playing tank in OW2. And when absolutely no one ques for tank all the dps players that got what they wanted by nerfing tanks into utter uselessness can sit in que forever and never play. Congrats you got what you wanted.
or you could just play quickplay classic or open queue
I’ll probably play more tank so it’s ok
There is no guarantee that those modes will be retained with Overwatch 2 given how dramatic the balance changes are.
Have they said they will be keeping quickplay classic or open que?
Well, at least I guess those new Tanks will be Utility DPS, but fattier and Brawly, so if you like to play Brawly DPS’s, then playing Tanks (or maybe they rename the role to Brawlers) can be your choice.
Never stopped no-limit from existing. Heck if the issue is the tank, just use the old “1 of that role” limit some custom games have and let anyone pick a tank if they want to or pass the tank role to someone willing to fill it.
There has been no word either way. My speculation is based on how dramatic these balance changes are and how they would make those modes potentially unplayable.
Again, no limit. (and arguably mayhem)
I mean the Sombra buff alone makes tanks unplayable.
No limits, in my opinion, is a broken game mode in today’s day and age. Granted it appears in the Arcade rotation on occasion, but anyone who plays the mode competitively can really cause near invulnerable compositions. I feel this would be exemplified with the OW2 changes we are seeing so far.
Okay, real talk… who the heck plays no limit competitively?
Like we have rolequeue co-existing with it and QPC for years. If open queue has to go its fine but given what happened last time QPC went missing from the arcade for a mere day, i think blizzard is smart enough not to get rid of it atleast from the arcade.
Well a lot of people did when they ran a Competitive No Limits season and all of the old Season 1 Comp strats resurfaced (most notably 5 Winstons and a Lucio).
Drama queen.
Tank will be more fun than they are actually because everything that makes the tank role a frustrating role will either be removed or reworked.
Therefor, more people might pick up tank. I’m more worried about supports, to be honest.
Same but with supports
I mean since role queue and such was introduced? Those options were introduced to allow people to play the older formats in a more casual setting while evolving comp/mainline quickplay on its own. I assume if QPC and No limit returns they might be tuned down to the 5v5 format but i see no reason for this not to return. With this kind of argument we should get rid of the arcade altogheter just because its “awful” competitively. Like what the hell man, not everything has to be built around comp.
Overwatch at its core was built around its different heroes and playing rock paper scissors with the enemy and different comp/characters similar to TF2 (which inspired OW, jeff himself said it) and some like to play it that way.
What the point is that those who want a Competitive experience, like Hunter, do want to play Competitively and have concerns that the Tank role won’t play well. I am concerned based on everything we have seen with Overwatch 2, I am speculating (again, my own opinion) that Blizzard will retire some modes to cut down on queue times overall. I am probably wrong, but it is a concern of mine.
Going to be real with you, the only mode I still play in OW is QPC, my friends and I hate every other mode. If they remove 6v6 QPC I might seriously think about quitting.
I have golden Orisa. I got it before Sigma’s release. Then double shield was popular for a minute so to please the dps only players shields got nerfed into the ground and Orisa is completely useless now. That’s what’s going to happen to all tanks.
This kind of mindset is what led to priority pass to happen and see where that went…
To be fair Role queue was built so you can sacrifice queue time to be sure you get the team comp and role you want. If you want fast queue time you play open/classic but at the cost of potentially having messier compositions. If you want something to change on your team in classic, become the change.
And tbh priority pass was made because people didn’t understand the longer queue commitement (cause lets be real the reason dps queue is clogged is because these people usually dont want to fill for tank/support in the first place. Its especially evident in role queue casual) and complained about queue time.
