Practice Mode Overrun

Dear Devs, it is impossible to make use of your practice mode as intended because it has been overrun by a certain community of people who I guess are too afraid to play the actual game. I say that because they are way too advanced to “need practice” as suggested by the game mode’s name. It seems all they want to use the practice vs AI mode for is to sweat on bots (I believe there is an arcade mode for that) instead of playing the actual game; rendering the practice mode’s intended purpose useless. Is there a way I can practice without getting matched with teammates who are obviously good at the game already but refuse to play live matches?

I submit, smurfing/sweating in practice mode is in fact Gameplay Sabotage as it directly interferes with the game mode’s intended purpose by denying people who actually need the practice, thus making it a reportable offense.

To whom it may concern,
Play the actual game. You know who you are.

your definition of sweat is probably very different to everyone else, you can literally 1v5 the play vs AI bots as a dps mercy, by definition i would say you cannot be a sweat vs ai

This is why you don’t give reporting power to players…

Ha! I know the kind of people you mean. I used to do cool down games vs ai with friends many moons ago. And there would always, ALWAYS be that one person who would go to great lengths to make sure no one else could play because they were pressed up against the spawn door as bastion or something.

It’s really easy: you stick them on ‘avoid as teammate’ and move on.

Don’t report them, because you don’t know what else is going on with their lives. People in vs AI: they could be sick, depressed, a child, disabled, the whole shebang. So let them have the neurochemical boost from hammering bots, no skin off my nose, I just don’t want to watch them do so five times in a row.

Well this is a first. Never seen someone complain players in ai are too good.

Yeah. ikr. Unintended Consequences + Solid Logic = Disaster for most things

It’s Bastion and Junkrat these days, often Torb, even seen a few Pharmercys, like why??? They’re bots. The mode is so easy already. It kills the little fun when some a-hole on Lucio/Orisa just stands by a spawn door to boop all 5 bots off the map as soon as they come out each time. I leave any match with a Junk/Bastion but not enough avoid slots and it’s like every. single. game.

What is practice mode, and how is it different from the training area?

Edit: Nevermind, I’ve always used the practice range and never even realized that practice vs. AI was even a thing.

Create a custom game and add AI teammates to your team and the enemy team. If its too hard even with easy AI you could give yourself hard AI teammates and easy AI enemies.

I will say that if your goal is to actually learn the game playing with and against real players is a better use of your time. Even the highest difficulty AI is significantly worse than bronze ranked players.

I’ve used AI predominately to get used to and test out small things of new heroes. Along with try out certain muscle memory building exercises.

That is probably a decent idea. I just jumped straight into competitive without even testing the new buttons for Hog. ᕙ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)ᕗ

You can sort of do that in practice mode. When the hog changes hit I messed around a bit with the feel of a 1-2-3 shot hit. How close proximity to the trap were things. How did the heal change feel.

From there actually go into versus AI to see how the hook → trap feel. Same when Ramattra hit, Illari, Lifeweaver, etc. Sometimes I go in there simply to chill by doing stupid stuff.

Players in there are a mixed bag. Many really can use it as general practice because you are facing enemies with pretty much high awareness and good aim. They will kill and prioritize supports in some situations. You have incentive to focus fire the same target. Kill the supports first. Things of that nature.

Yea, they have predictable moments, but that’s why its mainly should be used on stuff you suck with.

I don’t understand the complaint. The PvE they added is dogwater and doesn’t get you XP to finish the BP which has the only things of value within it, but you still need to spend money. Playing the garbage PVP game is completely unfun and now I am reading someone would rather me f off and not play vs AI games because I am farming the bots and it’s too easy and fun to do.

Is there any game mode for me to play so I can enjoy this game without someone deciding that I should have the rulesets changed against my will, punished for wanting to leave unwinnable games, and now I shouldn’t be allowed to queue into vs AI matches because it’s “not fair or right” if I just farm the bots?

I hope this is a joke or I am misunderstanding but jfc I am so sick of other players on Blizzard games only, trying to tell me what I can or cannot or should or should not do.

I can only imagine that most of these kinds of players are literal kids.

I played the OG Half life last night… it had better AI than the Overwatch PvE/Vs AI modes.

It just cracked me up that a 25 year old game did a better job of having reactive AI than one made far more recently.

Maybe I should start playing VS AI more, at least I won’t get-- oh nvm. Apparently I still will by some people.

I know it’s “too easy” by some standards, that’s why I don’t Q for the baby mode unless I’m absolutely certain I’m going to play Window or Handsoap.

Even if I notice myself being “too good”, I’ll tone it back by going a support I don’t normally use or dps I’m ok at. It’s really quite refreshing to see people genuinely happy in a mode.

Although it’s VS AI, it’s still not turn off your brain mode. You’ll get flamed for dying to bots!

Its been the constant push and pull over whom should have this mode to themselves.

Comp-sweats say “NO LEAVERS OR ELSE!”

Casuals say “GTFO OUTTA OUR MATCHES OR REPORT FOR SMURFFIN!”

So we do need a community proposal here. OPEN Q mode for both player TYPES

1 ) for the "i have a life and Overwatch is apart of it, but I dont want to play with grouped players and in teams that want that hard-win.

2 ) For the groups that want no ranked rating, but still can play grouped and absolutely push their matches against a larger SKILL dif rating, so they can learn to play against difficult opponents and 'test their skills".

TBH its kinda funny because comp has SUSPENSIONS for leaving, (perma even) and only gives out a “rank number” and already had leaver penalties. but no clue why people have rating anxiety, but they do. fine. W/e. dont care. they were already given a mode to sweat in.

anyway. since they want to play in NON comp now. its time to come to a community resolution.

Literally never seen anyone flamed for dying to the bots and its actually really rare to have a match end with 0 deaths for everyone. Gotta remember those bots are basically cheating. They don’t miss, use wallhacks, and will hard focus you. Still funny when Tracerbot yeets herself off the map though.

Why are you trying to report people for practicing against AI? Please help me, I’m trying to figure out the mental gymnastics used here to justify that.

Yeah, I meant the really easy mode mainly. Sorry.

The hardcore mode and aimbot bots are scary. Haha.
