the original game was good, but now we got a bunch of bozos in charge who don’t know what they are doing
now we got this BS swap heroes meta in the game… what skill or fun is there in just counterpicking heroes the whole match
the trash matchmaking system doesn’t help… maybe they just want low queue times but it’s really stupid queueing up for automatic losses because they want to keep it at a 1 minute match time
there’s no fun in steamrolling opponents who don’t have a chance or vice versa, and with the HP changes its harder to solo carry and just a matter of counterpicking heroes
Steamrolls happen in my games as often as you’d expect. I just know when I/my team are the cause, or when the enemy mess up.
Even pro games end in steam rolls. It’s just a synergy thing.
Last steam roll I lost, first fight we were down a support because they were afk at the start. So that fight ended fast. After that, we never really coordinated and sorted the comp out and the game snowballed from there. Sometimes you just got to stop, regroup and sort it out, even if it means giving up 2nd too. That was our mistake sadly.
Nope. l I don’t blame them. I/we should have noticed and adjusted. It’s just why we collapsed on 1st, as we were a man down.
What we need to do was probably just play hyper aggressive. And try win at least 1 fight close, or at worst delays the free push for at least a few moments. Which would have given us a little more time to regroup.
Can’t agree more. However I doubt there is enough active players to have one without having stacks sitting in queue for 30 minutes unfortunately.
A good middle-ground would be to be able to opt-out being matched with stacks. Hoping enough players don’t care / want fast queues and stay opted-in to have low enough queue times.
A. Did you notice your practically the only one in this thread with this opinion? d:
B. I don’t mind losing games, I really really reeeeally don’t. I just want the players I’m with/against to be of GENERALLY same skillset. Again, I literally have games saved that are losses bc they were SO enjoyable and felt like real people on both sides, not an NPC filled PVE game or a Call of Duty.
What am I learning from steamrolling a team? (They get like what ,10 kills total whole match?) What am I learning when my teammates have 10+ deaths? I admit my faults when they happen and frequently VOD review myself. I want to get better, be challenged, learn new skills/tech. But when I’m literally teaching my teammates what kiting is, where to position/hold, etc, it’s not really conducive to improving anything other than composure lol.
Lastly, in what competitive game do you LOSE rank bc you were expected to win and won? I’d get it if it was a much much smaller gain, but LOSE?
idk. Your/that take just seems a lil out of touch and elitist lol.
Overwatch community has complained about matchmaking forever, yeah, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard them be this vocal and with a relatively unanimous opinion about it.
Indeed. Still doesn’t mean I’m right or wrong, and doesn’t mean I’m going to be bothered about it. As always, if you don’t like my opinion, just ignore it. People getting angry about it is just funny.
And they are.
I agree, very little. But that doesn’t mean it’s a match maker thing. It might be on the odd occasion, but it’s highly unlikely.
Cherry picked tf outta muh statements. 10+ deaths vs 3-4 deaths, is not the same skill set. Having 3x the amount of kills as the rest of the team, is not same skill set. NEVER grouping, always staggering, not same skill set. Disregarding your whole team to make your play, not same skill set.
Not really. Stats with out the context of the actual game footage are irrelevant, so I just ignored them. I’ve played games where one team had significantly higher stats and lost. It’s not something to worry about.
The rest, you just described pretty much every overwatch game.
well let me tell you, even in context it doesn’t make sense. I get there’s usually a lot of ego posting on here (so, humbling ppl is usually warranted) but ya seem very contrarian pertaining matchmaking based on your posts xd
Disregarding stats; It feels like you can watch people actively make bad decisions and then blame their team. It’s sad to say gaslighting in match is pretty frequent (Coming from someone who again, VOD reviews AND shadowplays a lot) It’s not uncommon for players to be 15hp and ult/push in. Be anti’d and totally unaware about it. Players who chase kills away from OBJ and consistently lose their ones. Absolute disregard for team comp. What do ya do with that?
It’s not even about rank at this point, just match quality. I could lose 15+ matches in silver and be totally fine if they felt like quality interaction games. Again, there’s plenty of examples in my main post ignoring the stat ones. A LOT of matches don’t even feel like real people playing, there’s no human to human interaction whether its silly stuff, ult combos, peeling for each other, ping noticing, problem solving WITH team, etc. Just a whole lot of tunnel vision and main character energy; Them against the world, complete disregard for anyone on their team. “I turn now! Good luck everyone else!”
I blame the match maker when the match maker is the problem. A lot of match maker complaints, if anything is wrong it is probably just MMR not calibrated on an account leading them to being in a lobby they possibly should be in.
This happens all the time. There’s the theory that the loudest player is usually here worst performing one. People will often look for an excuse rather than take responsibility.
Then shouldn’t the MMR be calibrated correctly? The Competitive experience whether it be the matchmaker or MMR is bad. Bad enough that we now have another engineer as the face of it because Team 4 obviously sees that people are angry about Season 9’s laughable UI Win/Loss reasoning.
Don’t bother with this dummy. He gets vod codes and still doesn’t watch them. He just wants attention.
Blizz is probably getting ready to announce ow3, which will just be a new monetization scheme like ow2, because ow2 didn’t rake in as much money from $40 skins as they wanted. Because of that, don’t expect significant changes to non-revenue-generating items in the near future. And a matchmaker doesn’t generate revenue. Store will be updated regularly, though.
For this reason, just focus on what you can improve or just play quickplay. Had several games this week where dps went -5 or worse. Had a game where i had more damage than both of our dps combined as orisa. It sucks, but don’t worry about it, just worry about your own play. And when a game comes out with gameplay as smooth as ow, just switch.
Yeah, this is one of the first seasons I’m not keen on playing competitive, though QP is somehow just as miserable lol.
The other poster is like… making some okay points, kind of agreeing, but then being a goober about delivery, semantics and expanding further on concepts. very contrarian, pugnacious?? ;–; bleh
I’m just sad about games not being loved/cared for anymore tbh. Hence, me screaming into the void for Overwatch haha. The decline of quality games overall has me heartbroken, gimme back my passion projects. (2000-2018 era) Why did we let capitalism gets its grubby lil hands over the gaming industry T-T’
I get it. And to give some credit, the ow dev team really does want to make the game better (i went to school with an ow dev, and he’s an excellent coder and loves games). They’re just hamstrung by corporate overlords who would rather have a good franchise that printed money than a great franchise that made slightly less.
Plenty of devs are trying to leave blizz, but start up world is tough right now.
Then that would move you up quickly, but we aren’t seeing lobbies of players on one side who had an anime training arc. Instead we are seeing players that OW boosted upwards lose games because they didn’t want them to be sad and quit playing, when they should have been two to three medal brackets down.
Expected has become a meme on every major streamer’s channel because most of the time the hardest games are “Expected” when you win them by the slimmest of margin.
