Please give us the option: RQ / Regular Queue

With the obvious disagreements taking place over the new systematic approach to competitive play, the only fair thing to do is probably have both game-modes available for competitive play.

Those who appreciate and enjoy Overwatch how it is: Play Regular Competitive play

Those who appreciate the mandatory 2-2-2 with no role switching mid-game: Play Role Queue Competitive play

At the end of the day, I feel like this is going to be the only permanent solution so that everyone is happy. A consensus could be made after 1-2 seasons of competitive play to see which type of competitive play people actually prefer. Let the numbers speak for themselves. While Role Queue may be a solution to some, it is most definitely not a solution for all.

From a customer stand-point, I feel this would speak volumes about Blizzard and their customer service.

It would speak volumes in the same way wearing a diaper would: inability to commit to revolutionary change. Just because you’ve been peeing yourself for three years doesn’t mean that’s the best way to go about this whole potty business.

Revolutionary change?

More like, “we give up, we can’t balance the game, here is your enforced meta” type of change.

It sucks, and a lot of people are quickly changing their tunes on it.

Not every change is as important, or dare I say, revolutionary, as being potty trained. I see what you did there, but it was sub-par.

“we cant balance the game”

Blizzard has no control over what people pick in the game, and that is the one causing imbalance. Guess what they have control over?

2 2 2 is the way to balance the game and it doesnt suck.

Personally, I dont see the desire to have Freedom as anything remotely like losing control of urinary functions.

It is almost as if this was/is a thinly veiled attempt at a generally derisive/insulting statement

Yeah they just made a bigger diaper.

I wonder if you people even know what “balancing” would have meant without RoleQ.

You think it sucks to die to a Widow or Genji all game as a support? Well guess what, in high-tier/OWL games tanks & supports are much more important than DPS. Without RoleQ, they would have buffed DPS so much that having 4 or 5 DPS in ladder games would have become equally good as having main- & off-tank.

RoleQ is the only way (this far) to make it balanced to have a 600hp self-healing DPS take 1 slot, and a 200HP squishy DPS take 1 slot.

I think you’re missing the point.

Than why didn’t they balance everything when they implemented 2-2-2???

No. They have stated they will never do this. do you know why?
its the same reason why LFG is not used anymore

Because if half of people do role queue and the other half do old comp, queue times will be twice as long

Imagine a lot, and I mean A LOT, of people wanting Role Queue and then hating it when it’s actually implemented.

Am I? I thought people said that RoleQ was just a quick fix cuz devs “can’t balance the game”.

The truth is that it’s not balanceable when every hero takes 1 slot. People complain about DPS power creep, while it’s still the weakest and most disposable role in real games. They would have had to go so far with nerfs to tanks/buffs to dps, that RoleQ is just better choice.

I think its great
Finally i dont have a main tank who decide in the middle of the game that he want to play DPS
It will take a few weeks until everyone will get to the rank they deserve with each role but right now it feels good to play without 5 dps in my team

I totally agree, I made a post outlining the problems with just having role queue available, and there are no drawbacks to having both kinds available.

to be fair, the stated drawback is that by splitting up the players in two distinct sets, queuing times will increase for both sets.

As a fan of Freedom queue and hater of Forced, I personally would happily accept this drawback, but I know not everyone would

I can see that happening, which is why in my post I mentioned that I’m in favour of mixing who you’re up against if queue times get too long.
Like it’ll take longer to wait for a game that’s 6v6, so sometimes a group of 6 is put against 3 duos. Similarly, if it would make wait times lower, there should be an option to go up against other forms of teams. So your 2-2-2 might go up against an LFG who has some other version of enforced roles.

But instead creating tanks and healers more fun and rewarding … they forcing a certain team composition.
“so, your arm hurts? Let’s cut it off” - that’s their solution to any problem.

To put it plainly: if role queue is the option I won’t be playing this game that I (once) loved. And I know lots of other players feel the same way.
