Not sure what that’s all supposed to mean, I’m using a phone on Cricket Wireless’ phone plan, it’s not a prepaid so I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do here.

Blizzard doesn’t accept Cricket apparently. This has been an issue in World of Warcraft for years, so I don’t think it’s going to change. You will need to use someone else’s number, or use a different provider.
It seems like there are other prepaid services that are accepted for some reason. No idea why Cricket is not allowed, but it isn’t.

They recycle phone numbers instantly with cricket more or less just like a pre paid service. Could be one reason. But Im not 100% so dont quote me on that.

Well, that’s a bummer, I’ve been using this phone number for over 4 years. Guess I’m not playing Overwatch 2, I’m not changing my number for one game when it’s so tied into everything else in my life.

I use Straight Talk, and I’m pretty sure it’s basically the same. I used to always get calls and texts from angry girls I never met thinking I was their boyfriend’s mistress (even though I am a man). So I’m pretty sure they reuse numbers, too.

Its strange that Cricket isn’t working because I have cricket, but my number was already attached to my account before this change so I never got the prompt for a number & I can access OW fine. Weird.

Same problem for me. Ive had Cricket for over 10 years. Not another family plan that can compete with them. I guess i just wont play Overwatch 2!

Since OW2 is replacing OW1, doesn’t this mean you won’t be able to play OW at all? So people paid for the game, and now blizzard is saying they can’t play because… they have Cricket instead of AT&T/Verizon? That’s utterly ridiculous

Hadn’t thought about that, man, that’s actually depressing. Been playing this game since like launch from Xbox to PC. But none of the phones/numbers I have between Cricket and my VoIP work

Joined the forums exactly because of this. I bought OW1 this summer for cheap because the OW2 beta was fun and will now not be able to play OW2 when it releases all because of my phone plan.

I’ve been playing OW for years. As soon as the watchpoint pack was announced, I got it. Now you’re telling me that I can’t access this content I paid $40 dollars for because I have a phone provider you aren’t a fan of? Something’s gotta give. Either refund the pack or accept Cricket phones, this is highway robbery.

I think they are giving refunds for the watchpoint pack to those with this issue. I believe you have to email support directly.
I’m sorry. I know how you feel, I can’t play OW2 either due to having a landline phone

I really hope they rethink this strategy. If it’s a case of security, I’m more than happy to use my authenticator app if they let me.

I am also having this issue, I find it hilarious that they are blocking me from accessing a game I paid for(OW1) and will be seeking a refund. I encourage everyone else that bought OW1 and has this issue to do the same. Hopefully, it will make them add cricket support.
