How is it not relevant? You’ve gone from “it’s only American Police”, to now apparently, Korean and Swedish Police forces are exemplars of perfect policing virtue? Korean Police have a pretty bad reputation for sexism, I know that much.
It shouldn’t even affect anything, because it’s not true despite a bunch of people having that bias.
It is illogical to assume all cops are bad. That’s just … yeah, bogus. I’m not even a police officer, nor do I have any close family and friends who are, but it still appalls me at how that profession and those that serve in the police force are looked upon because of recent events. And what’s worse, it’s being accepted as valid.
There are definitely bad ones out there - obviously. But not all of them (equally obviously). And the good ones shouldn’t be slandered on an overall level That’s just awful.
Didn’t say good police were shielding the bad police, don’t forget all the good deeds and those who have died in the line of fire for the public just to be branded as evil due to the bad bunch of apples.
Thanks for jumping to the conclusion though there~
They don’t do enough to weed out the bad apples, we know that, we see it time and time again. There’s a reason internal investigations are always portrayed as the bad guys.
I find it funny that any “bad apples” in another other job it is placed on them and noone else (most of the time) but a bad bunch of police and the entire job title and all in it are put against a wall here pretty much 100% of the time.
Though nothing new that people always will slander police as a waste of money and nothing else for years and years, they just have more fuel to work with to go against the good cops who some are still trying to help but are being slapped just for trying to do what a proper cop should be doing!
Edit: It will get to the point where they won’t have a police force and then the world will go into chaos and they will then blame a higher power for no protection because they scared away the last bunch who still wanted to protect. You cannot win with this world anymore.
But when they were added the world had no big or real issue with the police nor was it related to anything bad.
With that logic any artist and any other game/media should remove all police themed stuff entirely because they didn’t see into the future.
Heck with that logic all gun heroes should be removed with how many deaths a year are caused by them. Time to replace them all with bubble guns.
Exactly. And, you know, I’m no fan of cops. I don’t know of many people who are… I mean, come on, I have friends who play Pokemon Go while driving.
But for real, there are a lot of good and brave people who pick up that badge, and they don’t deserve to be labeled as evil simply for not sniffing out every dirty cop among them. That’d be insanely difficult to do.
I do know the system as a whole is corrupt on a lot of levels and needs work. But your average officer is just doing his job, and I’d wager a vast majority of them really do just want to help people.
And if we’re judging cops on their character instead of just labeling them bad outright due to their profession, then D.Va and Brig would probably both be excellent officers. So I see no problem with those skins.
Lots of corporations and organisations have bad apples, who get shielded to protect the reputation of the organisation, it’s not unique to police. The issue is that that protection for the reputation is the default stance, and it’s damaging to the reputation of the organisation in and of itself when it comes out.
It’d be easier and better on everyone all around if they didn’t worry so much about protecting their mates and reputation, and did their actual jobs and were held accountable for doing so.
And a public body, like the police, especially like the police who have licence to kill people, are held properly and fully accountable.
The Police are asked to deal with a lot of things they simply have no business dealing with, that’s a problem. Reducing them so we can have other services that can professionally deal with those things seems obvious.
It’s true though, as per multiple independent public investigations.
They are only human, they cannot please everyone and have rules behind the scenes they still need to obey specially with how the rules are becoming softer for the public and harder for them.
Even if police force is gone what would a new force do? they would become police 2.0 and most likely abuse their power to where people will cry for the old system back.
You cannot please everyone in the world and you will have loads of people fighting against no matter what replaces the police.
Again, this world cannot be won against, maybe a good 30 years ago it could but not anymore with how demanding people are and lack of giving back and working with the police.
They need to be better. It’s really that simple. Whether its the police we have, or the organisations that come after, who are specialised in dealing with things police are, inappropriately, asked to deal with.
However, they are entirely resistant to change. That’s a problem. They’d literally rather keep racists and murderers on the books than weed them out and be better.
Uk police are largely seen as too soft and as recently as the last General election a huge chunk of the campaign went to people wanting budget cuts to be reversed. In response both major parties pledged to increase the budget.
Now a small but vocal group are acting like the general public want the police defunding. It’s nonsense and just a fringe movement here. Comparing UK police to US is almost laughable.
The problem is that some people won’t be happy until there are zero instances of wrongdoing by the police. This is obviously impossible as police are human too.
Say that to the funding they are given, you cannot denie their funding to protect the public has been cut and keeps being cut, giving them less power to deal with the world and take action.
Specially with the loopholes and soft actions people are getting to not go to jaila nd police are then blamed when they have nothing to do with who goes to jail or not, they just catch and keep them detained.
If anything the public are just as much to blame for not wanting change. But again many cops are still trying to help the public but are overshadowed by the bad ones who are always seen as the image of the police and brand the good ones just like them which is wrong.
Being a policeman is harder than people think or they protray in media itself. Again they are only human and can do so much before they quit or are on the floor. We need to work with the good ones, not against them.
Can agree here, a lot of us don’t want the funding cut at all and are happy with what most of the police do for us, we were happily clapping for them a week before all this chaos happened and some are still happy to clap for those that are still trying their best specially with the funding they are given and we understand they need more.
But of course as you say a small group is placed as our image as “this is what all of UK wants”, no, no it is not.
That is the issue with today as well, image. They are putting the wrong people as the image for certain jobs and subjects and sticking with it.
UK Police are largely seen and incompetent and terrible, due to underfunding, and cuts in numbers. Indeed it seems for all the terrible news about US police I hear, the first point of wonder is that someone actually bothered to call them, and that there was an officer available to respond.
That doesn’t change the repeated reports that find them to be institutionally racist and not doing enough to deal with it.
Wrongdoing happens. It needs to be caught and addressed however, and it needs to be seen to be done so. Too often ranks are closed and nothing meaningful happens when wrongdoing is found to have occurred.
It’s a bigger deal in the US where that wrongdoing is more likely, and infuriatingly often leads to someone dying unnecessarily.
It is not strictly American. Do you think it is more important a stupid skin than people?
Your choice.
Racism is a global reality. I live in Spain and I am embarrassed of some news that sometimes pops up.
You are here writing for your selfish desires… Well I hope everything is good for you, prince / princess.
No, not really. They’re seen as too soft and overstretched due to underfunding. They are held in good regard by most of the public which is why the argument is for more funding and not reform.
Yet it doesn’t translate it anything meaningful on the ground. UK police don’t disproportionately kill minorities for example. On the other hand they do ignore crime for fear of being called racist. For example, Rotherham.
