Phone Verification to play Comp

Should Blizzard add the phone verification to comp to cut down on the number of mulitple accounts and smurfs in the lower ranks just like they did with the T500 awhile back?

Yes, let’s make everyone’s alt accounts a complete waste of money. Definitely glad I spent money for an account I’d no longer be able to use…

you can get a sim for £1 so it probably wouldn’t make much differance

You would be able to still use that account freely in qp and arcade, just not comp.

What’s the point of an alt account if not to use it in Competitve??? I hardly play QP and Arcade on my main let alone my alt accounts.

Whats the point in smurfing when you belong much higher in the ranks, the game placed you in those ranks for a reason why should you be able to bypass that rank just by buying a secondary account and not trying your best to win and ruin the game for 11 other players who are playing legit.

What? I didn’t say anything about smurfing. I’m specifically talking about alts here.

I would use my other phone

Why would you need and alt account in the first place if you werent smurfing?

You understand that the majority of alt accounts aren’t used for smurfing, right? Most people have them to practice other heroes in a competitive environment. My DPS isn’t at a Masters level, so I’m not going to play DPS on my main. Instead, I have an alt account that I use to practice my hitscan at the level it belongs in.

I love to smurf. It’s one of my favorite hobbies. You can play with friends and stomp on the enemy as a DPS mercy. What’s not to love?

But you could also just start a scrim game in the game browser on your main account and get the same effect. It doesnt bother your SR etc and still allows you to practice heros/roles you need. Secondary accounts are not needed by any standard no matter what excuse you try to give for having one.

I think you mean PUG rather than scrim. Either way, if I don’t play in comp, I’d have no idea what my skill level is on that account, which defeats the purpose. If I don’t use it in competitive play, there’s no reason to have it. It’s not hurting anyone else’s play experience either. It’s like having any other Plat DPS main on your team.

There’s literally no other way to practice the heroes your bad at in an environment that matches your skill on those heroes other than competitive play.

[/quote] with vastly superior Mech. skill and game sense two pretty big factors when it comes to deciding if a game is a win or loss.

If I had vastly higher mechanical skill and game sense, I wouldn’t be in Plat on that account. I main Support (primarily Lucio). If I played Lucio in Plat, I could carry. I can’t do the same on DPS because I lack the mechanical skills for those heroes as well as the fact I make a million other mistakes in my gameplay. The account is in Plat for a reason. I’m not holding back or anything; I’m just worse at DPS than Support.

I’d be 100% for this. It wouldn’t stop everyone but it would help a lot.

How many games out of 10 do you flex off dps on your alt?

If you flex off to support aren’t you smurfing?

If you never flex then aren’t you being super selfish against the rest of your team?

Both are bad for the game as you aren’t playing competitively. You are practicing.

I very rarely switch off to Support on that account. I think last season I had around 5 minutes total on Support roles combined. It’s fairly rare to have a team that doesn’t have any Support players on it anyway. If I do make flex switches, it’s usually to Tank.

Competitive is practice… It may be the end-all for some players, but some of us are also on competitive teams that participate in tournaments. It’d be great if we had scrims for hours every day, but that’s unrealistic. Competitive is just the best place to practice the game.

If you are at that level then you should be “practicing” at the highest level available to you - your GM account. If it’s just practice then your SR means nothing to you right? You’ll improve much faster at higher level, especially in teamwork aspects, where as mid tiers will teach you bad habits.

Nothing you have said supports alts.

I cannot agree with this practice. SR is skill rating, right? It should be your skill with any hero you choose, not just one role.
