The problem wasn’t Pharah being a “good” character, the problem is that Pharah effectively makes a huge swathe of characters basically unplayable because they can’t interact with her in a meaningful way. There are only a handful of heroes that can realistically kill a Pharah and everyone else just gets rolled. When Pharah is “good,” her counters are finite but she does not dominate lobbies simply by existing.
Pharah was destroying lobbies singlehandedly, even when counterpicked. Her concussive blast dealing damage was objectively the reason why. Every other 120 damage per shot hero (barring Junkrat which is its own whole thing) had their two-tap removed in favor of three. With them adding damage to her concussive blast, Pharah could land two direct shots and then press E and guarantee a kill with the huge aoe blast. This made the HP change for 250hp heroes meaningless while making Pharah herself more difficult to kill because she could play at any range and deal full damage while her “hard” counters have damage fall-off.
With the concussive blast damage and her newfound mobility, Pharah didn’t even really need a pocket anymore because she could maneuver around the battlefield faster than she could be killed. Health gets low? Dash into cover and get healed up. It’s not hard to do even with less health. Pharah has a ton of survivability that she didn’t have before. It was inevitable that Pharah would have to go back down to 225 health because she needs to be counterable in a way that doesn’t necessitate an entire team swap to stand a chance.
He’s a good player and he is not a one trick, bad argument. Btw since the hotfix he plays Echo way more than Pharah. The reason of why he’s still #1 is another reason, and everyone knows what is this reason hahaha
I only use the word maybe because it might have gone down only a little and the extra nerf was to knock it down at a faster rate they wanted.
But we don’t have the insider meterics so it’s a safe bet that the Cassidy nerf (helped her in that matchup), her own buffs (helped her) and tank buffs (didn’t effect her) pushed her above 60%
I remember when people would make fun of ground pharahs. Now atleast 50% of pharah gameplay is being on the ground. Completely disagree with your take on buffing her other than letting her be able to fly for longer.
After playing like 30 games high elo only pharah, I can confidently say the hero is absolute hot garbage now.
Too squishy to do something, you have to play like a roach to live and that’s not fun.
Out of the 30 I won 12 and lost 18, basically on niche scenarios where I could hold chokes against double hitscan dps, double hitscan support.
Kinda sad to see that projectile heros are only allowed to be niche.

Not really sure that the nerf of Cassidy increased Pharah WR: her concussive blast (/2 shots combo) was nerfed in the same patch; they nerfed Pharah HP to 225 just 3 days after.
