Fact: Lowest picked support in the game. Heavily underperformed in 222.
Fiction: BRIG WAS SO OP ON RELEASE! LITERALLY UNSTOPPABLE!

Brig 2.0
Fact: Wasn’t even present in the first 2 iterations or double shield or even before, in the Orisa Meta.

Fiction: BRIG WAS ALWAYS STRONG AND OVERWHELMINGLY SO IN ROLE QUEUE! ARMOR OP! ARMOR OP!!!

If “reaper/doom/sombra goats” is a thing … Then that wasn’t brig who ushered it in. It was ana.

People didn’t realise how good she was on her rework, it’s happened a lot throughout the history of the game so don’t go chatting about how it’s fiction, people just figure things out slowly

Dude Brig literally wasn’t even meta in the Orisa meta pre-role lock OR the first 6 months of Role Lock.

brig was op on release bro, oneshot combo against tracer, 600hp shield, was able to flank, heal, shield, peal, deal damage and stun

You are kidding about this right? It was obvious she was… anyone who played her admitted this and you can still watch videos - there is no debate about this in reality…

Not saying people don’t overstate her - but come on…

I will say the history that gets left out most frequently is the fact she got a soft rework, and yet people keep counting nerfs from the first iteration against her…

She had about a 70% win rate in her release state, and not many teams were even playing multi-tank compositions to optimize with her back then. I don’t think you can reasonably say she “heavily underperformed” in any context.

She did have a fairly low pick rate at the time, though. She was definitely not a character that appealed to most players, despite her power level.

She didn’t create that meta, though. That was Moira + Lucio + Zenyatta when it first started and start becoming the must-pick meta.

There are also multiple reasons it was meta/stayed meta:

  • It was enough sustain to counter snipers who were busted at the time
  • It was Lucio’s speed boost that helped enable it
  • It was Zarya’s damage potential that helped doing the killing and outperform DPS
  • It was Zenyatta’s transcendence that could help counter Graviton/Earth Shatter
  • To a lesser extent, it was mostly D.Va so she could eat Grav

Blaming it solely on Brig is…odd. It was created by Moira to deal with a lot of other underlying balance issues. It stayed as meta with Brig in it, but it was also due to a few other heroes, not just her.

brig came out too powerful on release, however the meta didn’t allways favor her because bunker comp but that was more around when 2-2-2 was released and people started playing hog/orisa with halt+hook

and then for a period there came the first double shield with sigma of which brig wasn’t meta either because you had moira and i think lucio with that, not sure though who the second support was, but it was more or less doom/reaper double shield.

and then came the mei/reaper where i think brig started to see some more play, and then it started to open up a bit and you saw brig with a little bit of everything, double shield brawl comp, dive comps. etc until you see her what she is now.

brig has come and gone, but she’s really good for brawling and can work for dive.
the only place she doesn’t fit is bunker/poke comps really.

It is also a fiction that Brig is terrible in Low Ranks.

It’s not a fiction that she’s historically ALSO had the lowest pick rate in low ranks. Which contradicts the idea that picking Brig = free win.
