SVB got melted in 0.7 seconds in the actual game as Winston … during the ult in like 1.5
Its not really a big change from the actual game at all.
Fights are faster, pace is faster, clutches are better and focus fire and coordination matter way more against good positioning and beefy / Healing heavy comps.
They think we all want Call of Overwatch with real guns when we just want Overwatch with futuristic fun sounding, unrealistic guns.
Part of Overwatch’s charm is that it never sounded like the character I was playing as was pretending to be a military soldier in a warzone. Gun sounds were unique and fun and not jarring to the ear like irl weaponry.
So there’s a real chance Bastion won’t go though with the current rework?
Because I’m really disappointed to have so much damage sacrificed as well as freedom of transformation and boop immunity in exchange for a movement speed that is still too slow to avoid attacks.
It’s just a downgrade on what was already the weakest hero.
Why not JUST add mobility and not take anything away?
What I can see for Tank as a 3rd passive is reducing the duration of CC used against them, what I mean by that is, the duration of CC will be reduce by 50% on tanks, for example, the sleep is 5 sec, but tank will be asleep for 2.5 sec instead.
Gotta say, the POV stuff is the first time this game has looked fun for me, so I got a bit of optimism from it. Still looked like everything died too fast though. I’d like to see the ttk closer to what it is now.
ok cool? Like me stating how the sounds are obnoxious (not a unique stance as I have seen others saying it too) doesnt warrant you telling me your 100% opposite opinion in an effort to downplay the completely valid stance I have.
It is very clear and 100% evident that the new gun sounds are louder and more distracting. I haven’t changed the volume on my computer when watching these OW2 videos compared to OW1 ones from the same youtube channels. The sounds are flat out louder and more distracting.
Out of mech Dva’s pistol sound effects when being fired in CURRENT OW is one of the best sound effects she has/if not in the entire game.
If you’d actually watch the clip I mentioned at the timestamp I mentioned, the new sound for this is SO unnecessary and extremely off-putting in comparison.
Like WHY in the world does the new Dva pistol sound effect sound like Bastion’s primary fire? It sounds blander, louder, and less distinctive than it does currently, while simultaneously sounding extremely annoying and distracting. But I guess that’s in line with how OW2 is making OW more bland and homogeneous by removing things that made it unique.
I have nothing else to say to this line other than genuine laughter. Do those exist in the game currently? No! And they aren’t going to change that for OW2. You are hysterical if you think they are going to make any effort to add 1000s of option sliders for each different sound effect in the game.
You really like to sit on your troll, garbage, throwaway account to be rude and downplay legitimate criticisms don’t you? Stop telling people they are wrong. Stop telling people they can’t complain. Stop telling people they can’t criticize.
People like you are exactly why Blizzard makes all the trash decisions they have for the last 6 years with this game. People like you are why they get away with making trash decisions and then in turn are DEFENDED and reinforced by people like you who refuse to be critical or say anything bad and try to CONTROL other people’s rights to point out flaws and negatives.
I suppose it’ll disappoint you even more when I tell you that new sound design is one of the things they’ve explictly focused on remaking then. Even going out their way to fire irl guns to record them so they sound more realistic and all, which they showcased to us all the way back in 2019.
Too bad gunplay realism was never OW’s biggest selling point, probably the complete opposite. Realistic guns aren’t even remotely attractive, nor do they sound pleasant to the ear. Not to someone who is not an avid fps genre player as a whole.
What actually sounds gratifying is hitting a zenyatta orb volley to enemy players head and you hear this clinging sound of each orb hitting a headshot.
Yeah they went into it at one of the last Blizzcons. It seems like an excessive amount of unnecessary work that just adds to how much longer the game has taken.
Please let’s not forget that the game has been in the works since End of 2017 people. Half the game isn’t even new. Only PVE is new. Everything else is PVP related and is all the fault of changing to 5v5.
If we stayed 6v6, the PVP side of OW2 would have taken next to zero time as it would have been implemented through balance changes in OW1 up until OW2 finally released. The only thing that would have added to OW2 dev time would be the new maps and heroes and modes…something of which they have just been holding back on from OW1 so it’s debatable to even say it has added to the time OW2 has taken to release.
THIS. This is exactly what I was saying when talking about Out of Mech Dva pistol sounds in specific. CURRENT sounds are nice and fitting for the fantasy element of OW and isn’t loud, obnoxious, or distracting.
The new sound for shooting her pistol however is excruciating to listen to. It doesn’t fit the character or the weapon at all. The weapon has the vibe and look of almost an energy bullet pistol yet the new sound sounds exactly like CURRENT Bastion Primary fire.
What a joke and no one asked for such changes.
Yeah this. I don’t want to hear overly loud and distracting sounds from every character that sound largely similar.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen brigitte’s gameplay so … boring. I am not referring to Bash, but rather the total lack of a utility explicitly present on the battlefield, visually. There is an exaggerated enhancement of a passive that never shows his presence on the battlefield, and in my opinion that makes his gameplay overly flat.
about the rest, I really like the new graphic effects. perhaps the graphics at the edges are a little too intrusive, and I would give slightly more contrast to the edges of the numbers at the bottom left. In the white backgrounds you cannot read the ammunition of your weapons at all.
It’s not that sound design is a waste of time, far from it.
But the direction they are going for is seemingly once again, completely disconnected from what their playerbase actually want. The same thing happened with world of warcraft and why it’s in the mud right now. Like how Torghast went from beta fun past time where your char can feel OP to a mandatory weekly chore, long slog you must do for legendaries.
And more in tune with THEIR vision of the game or what the shareholders want this game to be. Which seems to be something which happens within this company A LOT.
They think COD sells well? Let’s make Overwatch more like COD so it should sell well, right?
In general, no. But in Blizzard’s case with OW? Absolutely it is in my opinion.
They spent all this time flying members of the dev team across the globe to find places deserted enough to fire real world weapons in places where it wouldnt incite panic and fear in nearby civilians.
And for what? To make the game’s weapon sounds new and “improved” when literally no one has ever asked for it?
100% constitutes a massive waste of time and effort in my opinion. Like I said, no reason to spend time fixing something that didn’t need fixing.
This. Even when Jeff was a part of the team, that part of overwatch 2’s developpement ALWAYS bothered me. Like i don’t think gun nerds are gonna go look at overwatch with glee or anything in the first place. Heck many of us love these weapons because they don’t feel real in the first place. They simply feel great and fit their purpose and role for the character/stories they are in.
By trying to be more “immersive” they ended up doing the very opposite by making sci-fi guns sound way too real lmao
When i saw the behind the scene i told myself i’d hold my judgement for when i see it in action and now that i have its even worse than i thought.
Gotta agree. Going for more “realistic” gun noises in this game was a bad idea imo. People don’t generally look for realism in a game like Overwatch. The new game sounds mostly suck, but won’t stop me from enjoying the game if they make a fun game to play.
I find it somewhat disconcerting that some of the changes the developers seem most excited about are things their current players don’t care about. Have you ever seen a thread complaining about the gun sounds not realistic enough in Overwatch? Seems like they have spent a lot of time on something that will be of no benefit to the players.
I want a silence on the shield bash if I can’t stun. Interrupting ults with bash is one of my favorite things, feels very rewarding and lets you make some team saving plays and this Brig is not going to make anybody have to think twice about ulting in her face. If you could pass that along I’d appreciate it.
