Im not sure why but for the past few weeks with increasing frequency I have been running into issues with OW2 Freezing my entire computer, to the point of having to turn my computer fully off and then back on to get back to a workable state. As far as I can tell it isn’t something I can wait out as after 6 minutes of waiting I just gave up, so it’s not like I can salvage a match, and I don’t know what to do. I have reset my computer, lowered my settings to low, updated my drivers through Dell support assist and Nvidia, reset my computer, and checked the integrity of both the game and the Windows 11 update that I got fairly recently.
I am having absolutely no problems with stuttering, slow FPS, or anything else like that only this issue. It has got to the point where the past 10+ games have ended prematurely due to a freeze, with custom games giving me far fewer issues even when I play large 12-player lobbies. At first, I thought it may be due to my computer’s GPU or something maxing out but when I turned on the in-game overlay through GForce it didn’t show my computer having any issues at all, going only up to around 60% if I remember correctly. And of course, the best part, other games like R6S give me no issues, even though they affect my computer much more.
My computer specs are:
Intel(R) Core™ i9-10900 CPU @ 2.80GHz 2.81 GHz
Installed RAM 32.0 GB (31.8 GB usable)
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 270 Super Driver version 531.41
1920 x 1080, 144Hz
At the last crash I had My performance overlay on so I was able to get the exact numbers which I will post here in case they are relevant.
CPU Utilization: 10%
GPU Utilization: 29%
Memory Clock: 5000MHZ
GPU Temperature: 52 °C
Fan Speed: N/A ??? not sure why this isn’t showing up but the fans are very much on and loud???
GPU Power: 28 Watts
GPU Voltage: 0.6 Volts
The overlay or the Dell Assist might be causing the crashes. Blizzard games have a history of not working well with overlays due to anticheat measures. Ultimately, if you want to troubleshoot you need to include your DxDiag, not your specs.
Hey, I just wanted to say thanks for getting to this. I got off my OW2 for a few weeks as it was annoying the hell out of me, and I just got back to it now. So, I have tried playing the game without Dell assist or the overlay on; in fact, that’s how I keep it. I don’t leave it open personally. As for the DxDiag it won’t let me post it, it says it’s too big, any ideas what to do?

I have the same issue, I would love to hear your story with the support ticket on this case, I’m facing the same issue, but having to run my PC in secure mode and deleting windows files and what not, is not something I feel comfortable with. Gaming companies should focus on their product and not ask the player to recode windows just to find out the error is in the game somewhere. But nonetheless if you follow through on this, I’m happy to hear about the outcome.
In the meantime, if you run the game fullscreen, then alternative solution could be SuperF4, it allows you to alt + F4 and kill the resource like if you did ctrl + alt + delete and did it through the task manager. Maybe then you can relaunch the game and get back in time before getting suspended.
About my rig btw.
Completely new, set up by some experts I know we had one issue with a RAM block but it got replaced. They find out that my RAM was replaced and the errors it had caused and is accusing that to be the issue… Never had issues in other like 50+ games I have, I spend avg. 10-12 hrs a day playing only this game crashes.
