This mode they’ve show is not anything like a sentry gun.
You’re rolling around on tank tracks, slowly, that’s in the configuration like that of a tank.
This just isn’t Bastion any more and I don’t want Overwatch 2. I want to keep playing Overwatch, it’s not an upgrade, you’re just taking away a game I paid for an replacing it with another game that I would not buy.

I think it’s an ok change. The worst part is his primary imo. It looks awful. The fire rate is slower the blizzards update schedule.
That’s an even worse reason not to do it.
Left 4 Dead 1 manages fine, you can find games despite L4D2 being almost everything L4D1 is but more.
It’s just the current primary but tap the fire button really slowly rather than hold it down and press reload when you’ve got 15 round left in the mag.

Which is it? It’s blatant logic chopping, nothing is taken as a whole.
Soldier 76 is smaller and faster hero, with more than double the fire rate, an explosive projectile that explodes immediately on impact and a self-repair. What is the point in Bastion?
The not-a-sentry mode doesn’t synergise with anything else in OW2 Bastion’s kit, trading movement for damage except it’s a worse trade, not enough damage but slow enough to be such an easy target.
It’s a great change. Bastions design has been broken since day one. Even in pre-alpha footage it was clear to anyone who played a class-bassd shooter that bastion would be broken.
It’s just disappointing that it took this long to change him.

They also nerfed the sentry damage by 40% and deleted tank so they nerfed damage on all fronts. Also he doesn’t have healing anymore so that sucks.
Left 4 Dead came out 14 years ago with no sign of the servers being shut down despite an “objectively superior” sequel.
Overwatch came out barely 5 years ago.
Other Activision-blizzard games that came out in the exact same month of the exact same year haven’t been actively shut down and there’s no indication they have any intention of doing so just to force them to play the next Call of Duty.
They didn’t try very hard to fix the hero, far far fewer patches than many other heroes. On average one patch per year and most of them just made things worse.
The problem is staying in sentry endlessly right?
Then why do they make it so hard to move in and out of sentry? They never had damage resistance apply while transforming. They actively made it worse by removing sentry’s immunity the being knocked back while transforming despite losing air control when at any point of the transformation animation so knockback is extra-effective.
The problem is standing still. Standing still reduces the amount of options immensely. So bastion is compensated with HP and damage.
Hp + damage = good at low levels
Options= good at high levels.
So bastion routinely ruins the game for my friends who are bad at the game, and is also completely irrelevant in my ladder games.
You can’t “fix” having no options without adding more options. You add the most options by adding mobility.
Yes, that’s why I like the hero.

That special aiming technique is to use a keyboard key as the “primary fire” button which you cannot really do with WASD controls. This allows you to be far faster and more precise as your hand on the mouse is only doing one thing: aiming.
Tis a sad truth. Down to the core design, the hero was a flop. The change is massive and it’s reasonable to say that it changes bastion in ways that make him feel like a different hero, but if people want him to be marginally buffed then the character needed to be redone.
Okay so… this doesn’t really matter in Quickplay. It’s just “on the ladder” the Competitive Mode where there’s just a very different attitude where it’s not about having an interesting hero it’s just about winning.
I think you’ll enjoy pve a lot. But this hero design doesn’t belong in pvp.
It’s not that your opinions are invalid. They are just not compatible with a competitive shooter. And blizzard has already decided that’s what they want ow2 to be.
But one of the key selling points of OW2 is the PvE
Of the PvE seen in OW1 Bastion is boring in PvE because it’s TOO effective, you don’t really have to worry too much about positioning. It’s fun having to balance strong strengths and weaknesses with Bastion in PvP but I understand that in “comp” you start talking about fun people accuse you of throwing.
I understand comp… winning has absolute priority over everything else.
I do not want to play such a game mode, QPC is continually stocked with players and I’m one of them.

Standing still won’t make me immune to knockback. In configuration sentry you cannot be knocked back, you can in this new not-a-sentry mode.

That being said, I misunderstood you. I didn’t think you could be knocked back in the new Sentry mode and you didn’t point this as being a problem anywhere in your post, so I thought your complaint boiled down to Sentry no longer being stationary and hence no longer “feeling” as Sentry.
