Overwatch needs a performance update

When your fps drops dramatically due to many ults being used or visually intensive abilities, it really effects your input lag and can result in no-reg.

I’m using gtx 970 sli with 3770k overclocked to 4.8 ghz and even with everything on low and resolution set to 720p, sometimes my fps will drop from 160 which it is locked at, all the way down to around 100.

This is a massive problem, massive fps drops result in lag spikes and just a bad time.

I really feel like it is time for a performance update, stabilising all the maps and abilties that affect performance negatively.

I have a similar system that i recently plugged back in. It’s not the game though. That hardware is showing signs of age.

Try this:

Overwatch runs pretty good. Your computer is old. I sympathize, but the problem is on your end.

Very true! but Overwatch is a game designed to run on low end systems.

I feel like with everything on low and 720p, I should be getting consistent fps wayyy above the 100fps mark.

What does that do exactly?

Its actually seeming to help… thanks

There’s an outdated process that slows down your CPU so that it’s accurate to insanely small fractions of a second.

It serves no purpose, and often times causes bad performance in games.

Have you disabled SLI?
Updated your drivers?
I have the very first titan cards rather than 970s. I found that disabling sli and running one card worked best. How much ram do you have? Are you on ssd or hard drive? These things will also affect performance.

I have tried disabling sli, I do indeed get less lag spikes but the overall performance is worse.

16gb of ram and Overwatch is installed onto an SSD.
All drivers are updated, yerr don’t know much more I can do without just getting a new pc. :pensive:

A massive first world problem, maybe.

Hmh. There’s something not right though. I have a 780 3gb that gets to 160 and lowish 120 in high stress situations. Though i have 32gb of ram in that system. Would gladly tell you to bring it to my shop so i can diagnose for free.unless you are near the Canadian capital region, i can’t help ya

Thanks for the offer, sucks that is a good 3000+ miles away
