Yeah it’s been fun, maybe this will serve as an example for future games.

To the next game, I guess.

And if I play at those hours I can get out with masters or bronzes, what’s the point? Offpeak is offpeak

Hard for Blizzard to pay attention to us when they’re forced on their hands and knees to drain the balls of Activision shareholders…

Exciting and fun

Anthem

pick one.

Well they tried to generate a lot of press and interest with Bastet before the Chinese new year.

It didnt really turn out well I imagine.
Both events were lackluster. Fortnite, a free game, has seemingly fresh feeling to it every season.

Nah its not dying and the arrival of apex legends is what it is. A new game but it will get repetitive and people will bounce between games. Overwatch is lacking to a certain degree with content and gamemodes.

I feel like the problem is that the dev team doesn’t have any new members which are used to and good at the same formula, so if every now and then the overwatch dev team should bring in people with a new standpoint on the game to see what they need to fix/change

This is probs true, Jeff said they believe the meta is the most balanced its ever been

Yes. But they do it anyone through other channels, and then ignore that the player base doesn’t like what they are trying to do.

Controversy is a warning.

That will happen about two months after they cancel the OWL because of low viewership.

Hey, servers cost money to run…

With TF2 I was a little bummed tbh. Apples and oranges, that game had some great QOL features that I’ve just resolved will never come to OW (open-source, community servers, and all the great map selection and game sizes that come along with that).

With OW… the writing is and kinda has been on the wall for a while now. Huge rifts in the community exist due to the slow addition of content, long overdue and heavy-handed nerfs/buffs/reworks, recycled event cutouts, lack of map selection (hooray another 2CP), lack of social features (afforded by the community servers of TF2 where you could just play with the same community regularly), competitive leaver SR, etc. What happens to OW in the future is anecdotal, but it’s a shame to see that in the 3 years since its release that these things haven’t been addressed. Most of my friends IRL have stopped playing due to one or more of the reasons listed above.

I don’t see community servers ever becoming a thing on OW because of what happened on TF2 when they introduced Comp mode. Almost overnight the community servers DIED. I can remember playing Dustbowl on a Lotus Clan server every night and it was always FULL. Heck, I started donating just so I could get to the head of the line to join when a slot opened up.

After comp? All of the people that came there to hang out, chat, and play disappeared. I tried their servers a few months back and it is so bad that the only players there are the bots and the server is in serious need of updating because they can’t even play right (Half of them sit in spawn and don’t come out).

I only have a few friends from the Lotus Clan days that I keep up with because we moved over to OW and Discord. The rest just evaporated and stopped playing the game. I think we are starting to see the early stages of that here on Overwatch, and that saddens me.

It’d be interesting if it were allowed, but I think that’s mostly me pining for the days of playing big games of CTF_2fort, Dustbowl, etc. Reserve competitive to the 6v6 format, but allow for larger games (8v8, etc.) in community servers.

I know it’s just a pipe-dream, but I think it’d be a lot of fun.

I hope Overwatch dies tbh, so they can finally make Overwatch a good game. eSports ruined it, the patches are mostly only for eSports, the game is badly optimized because they can’t use time to do it because of eSports, awful nerfs and buffs just for pro players (esports players), what about the bronze-plat competitive? Nah, who cares about them, they just want money $$$$
Maybe after it dies, we can get custom maps, mods, or anything like TF2, man I wish I didn’t sell my cosmetics…

^^ And this is the problem in a nutshell. Their concentration on League play and what will make it exciting is harming what makes it playable for their player base, the casuals.

Like who seriously watches a video game league in the first place?

Wife: “hey sweetie im in the mood, wanna have some fun?”
Husband: “cant babe sorry, the Gladiators are facing the Valiant”
Wife: “ok babe i understand”

Look at Reaper, it’s buffed as hell, I can mow down tanks faster than you can say “i have crippling depression”, but why did they buff him? Because Pro Players can actually defeat Reaper so the buff it’s actually better for them. Or Brigitte super nerf, she is useless, but she was too powerful in top 500 so they better nerf her to death, like Doomfist.
But Top 500 and Masters are like 10% of the playerbase, they should think about the real players that play Overwatch for fun, if it’s not fun why bother playing?

Fun first, balance later, i don’t wanna play a game that i don’t enjoy

It’s bad when the only news for the game comes from overwatch league and not the game itself😂

When I look at other games it’s like “new mode coming next week” or “new trailer for this expansion”.

With overwatch it’s “this team won something yay”

The game has slowly gotten less popular, not even close to what it used to be. And no it’s no because of age.

Blizz and activision need to start using overwatch to its full potential

Not to mention, he lack of a roadmap doesn’t help any.

Seriously even the division 2 and anthem have roadmaps and they aren’t even out yet.

I’m guessing Blizz doesn’t know what’s coming or it isn’t big enough to show off.

I know, right? OWL just released their game schedule. Pro athletic sports release theirs MONTHS in advance. You can Google “2019 Baseball Schedule” and it’s already out. Their first Spring Opener game is on MARCH 28th for crying out loud. OWL waited until 2 weeks before the first games to release theirs. That’s sad.
