I don’t really put Apex as a main competitor for the subgenre, but it’s gonna be interesting to compare the f2p market on Steam for that matter with Apex for sure I guess.

OW2 going to Steam could open up so many possibilities. I hope Blizzard will give us crumbles access to workshop integration and dedicated private servers.

I know. That’s why I made the post.
There’s a difference though. Call of Duty is an Activision game. Overwatch is a Blizzard game. I understand they are under the same umbrella, but they are still separate entities. Putting Blizzard games on Steam is them admitting that not only is OW2 failing but the entire battlenet store is underperforming.

Ea, Bethesda, and Activision already moved away from the in-house launcher thing and towards steam. I assume their missing out on more potential sales by not being on steam than they save by avoiding valve’s cut (which I assume they negotiate to be lower than normal)
My obsessive compulsiveness won’t allow it. 1900 hours in game yet starting from 0 hours on Steam.
No way won’t do it just like I didn’t with Apex.
Nah, theres always going to be that cope of “Well, most of the playerbase are just using the battle.net launcher”. You know, ignoring the fact that games like Apex are on multiple launchers too.

not surprising. They need players and steam is the best launcher to play games by a f ing galaxy. It’s the same thing as bethesda launcher, they tried , they failed, they come back to steam.

So official Battle Net linking to Steam? Never thought that will ever happen.
But… At least we can see how many (i mean few) players will be playing OW2
You’ll be able to see trends, but not player numbers (unless you believe everyone is going to be playing on Steam).
Trends are something, though. Better than what we had before.
You’re still using your BNET account to login, you’re just updating the game through steam. No need for new account.

one cool thing about this is we’ll actually get a playercount now. Won’t be completely accurate since people will still be playing on battlenet, but we’ll at least be able to see trends from it
