Overwatch 2 on STEAM?!

If they bring Diablo 4 to Steam I can finally uninstall the BNET launcher.

Basically, you can now install and run the game directly from Steam instead of Battle.net, but you still need to login the game through your Battle.net email.

Does this meanā€¦
my dreamā€¦

ofā€¦ having a Torbjorn Engineer skinā€¦ could someday become a reality

ALSO hope that means we no longer need Bnet launcher, something I wanted for AGES.

I think this is great news after they officially said that the playerbase is in decline, as stated in their earnings report earlier today.

(Hopefully) it will bring in more players from Steam.

? I havenā€™t played TF2 in like 9 years. What made you think that?

TF2 has a fat seal
Overwatch 2 does not have a fat seal

Itā€™s obvious which is superior

Not just fat seal,

Itā€™s got SNAKES

Yea itā€™ll probably work similar to most other third party games forcing you to have an account on their launcher

bcs ppl getting angy and making threads like this LOL

Oh, I completely misread oops
I gotta look at the posts there

Edit: Ok looking at the title of posts is pretty entertaining

Not always. I mean, ESO and FFXIV are a good example of that, but yeahā€¦ in this case is bad news

Pushing overwatch on Steam means only one thing.
They are doing this move to potentially reach new customers because the game is dying.

Overwatch 2 has very poor player retention numbers and income.
Overwatch League is in an abysmal state with literally no profit.
OWL Profits barely make 1% of the companyā€™s net revenue.

You can read all that in the recent Activision-Blizzard investor report of 19 July 2023: https://investor.activision.com/news-releases/news-release-details/activision-blizzard-announces-second-quarter-2023-financial

" * Blizzard continued to engage the Overwatch Ā® and Warcraft Ā® communities with live operations in the second quarter. While engagement and player investment in Overwatch 2 declined sequentially in the quarterā€¦

Overwatch Leagueā„¢
As previously disclosed, our collaborative arrangements for our professional esports leagues continue to face headwindsā€¦
ā€¦Total revenues from the Overwatch League comprise less than 1% of our consolidated net revenues.

Oh and you will need to run both steam and battlenet at the same time to play the game, so having the game on Steam means nothing for us.

Doesnā€™t mean the game is dying but more that they could just be looking to bring more people to play the game that donā€™t want to install the app. I think it is because of the Steam Deck being something many are getting, it makes the game more mobile so fans can play OW on the go like they can with the Switch.

What it means is that you still need a Battle.net account to play the game and this is so your progress can still be accessed if you played the game before. Nothing wrong with that because many other games that are tied to other companies like CoD, Square Exix with FF14, Ubisoft, EA do the same thing. Nothing new here.
