it doesn’t matter for a UI whether it is 5v5, 4v4 or 6v6.
We have all played the PvE missions from Archives, Junkstein etc. where it is 4vE and we had the normal UI.
The OW2 UI is just a “cleaner”. she does the exact same job. Show CD, HP, Killfeed etc. I don’t see how a UI would need to be adjusted to 5v5 or 6v6. I also think the current UI is much nicer.
But I also think that this “we know best” mentality prevails.
OWL is a minor matter when it comes to a classic mode. I mean we have Classic now and it has no influence on OWL, and OQ is the most popular mode in Korea, for example.
I think that the developers shy away from the (minimal) work and above all are afraid that this mode could be more popular than the new main mode 5v5. But maybe we are wrong and Team 4 is working on something, which would be nice if we have to sacrifice Overwatch as such for OW2.
Due to the more than sparse communication (thanks to Andy B it has got a little better) we hardly know what exactly is being worked on. Communication is a double-edged sword. If you keep silent, the community begins to doubt and fantasize and if you communicate a lot and announce a lot but then can’t keep it (Warcraft 3 Reforged) (because Acti puts pressure on you) the community jumps to you.
You got it. In OW 2 all characters are just DPS versions of themselves, the common passives, smaller maps, loss of modes like 2CP, etc. all are just smooth-braining of the game. I think though you hit the nail on the head - all these changes support mobile integration as well, a point I had not considered BUT makes perfect sense.
I simply do not trust the devs now.
They did not say this AFAIK. They said if they felt the needed tuning they would, right now they have no direct plans to.
I was really excited for the new game.
New maps and ways to play. 5v5 sounded cool. All geared up to pre order as soon as it’s available.
Then Andy started sharing what the developers are trying to do with balance. It sounds like an absolutely dreadful game experience. Now I am hoping something happens that delays the game a few years or kills it altogether.
All they need to do is address high - mobility flankers accordingly (which I’m pretty sure they’re doing at this very moment) and Overwatch 2 will be an absolute blast.
Their decisions to remove so much of the hard - CC, make Tanks more fun and record many terribly - designed heroes are already major steps in the right direction.
They specifically said they “will need to be rebalanced, and maybe even nerfed”.
In any case, it’s worth mentioning that assuming the hypermobile heroes will stay the same and dominate in incorrect.
They have spoken!!!
I gotta say, that thing where cc is going to tanks but Ana banana keeps her sleep dart is sticking in my craw something fierce. I…
What about if we keep the original Game separate?
This is something I can get behind.
True facts. It’s actually Overwatch 2.
I think it will be refreshing. A new game means more than just new hero’s and maps. For pvp side to be a new game means, a big shake up in balance while still maintaining the core. While stuns in ow2 will be extremely reduced, it sounds to me like brig does need her stun also removed because if it’s not, she may fall more into the damage category than support.
That is not quite the same. All characters are rebalanced - but to what extent? My impression is that they are not changing a character if they feel it fits their design goals, and that is the question. Do they want to (over) promote Dive?
Man I nerver looked at it like this
“OW2 is just a dlc”
“OW2 will change too much”
Pick only one
Even though DPS mains are saying support players are being overdramatic…hearing nothing but nerfs coming to the support characters so far really just shut down my interest in the game. Maybe they’ll actually figure out a way to make it work won’t throw out that possibility but right now support doesn’t sound fun.
Us sym players have already experienced having your hero literally deleted from the game never to return, and now all of yall brig, sombra, mei, doomfist etc players are going to have much the same experience when the hero you’ve come to know and love is fundamentally transformed. Still using the same assets, but everything else will be a completely new hero. Say bye while you can… You will miss your heroes in time, TRUST US
OW2 won’t be much different than OW1 but different enough for anyone used to OW1 to hate it.
That is extremely not likely to happen, because doing so would separate the player population between two games.
You mean like every Activision Call of Duty does? It sounds like cowardice from the dev team. Fearful that people won’t switch to OW2. I presume that’s the prevailing reason for not having a 6v6 arcade mode when they have things like no-limits already in rotation.
…I just don’t see, given what we now know, how Slep doesn’t turn into a soft team nuke.
You actually unveiled their real plan, remove 2 characters every match to improve performances ON MOBILE DEVICES lmao!
