Numerous times I have seen this, Orisa starts her slow ultimate buildup and a Lifeweaver tosses a Petal Platform under her, she rises up and the ultimate is completely nullified. Orisa’s only recourse is to immediately release the ultimate in an attempt to inflict some damage to the enemy and salvage her ultimate.
I understand we need Ultimate counter and canceling abilities. Two of the larger abilities would be Ana’s sleep and DVA’s matrix that completely or nearly completely can cancel or mitigate most of many ultimates. So I understand why this has been overlooked to allow Petal to mitigate/cancel Orisa’s ultimate, Terra Surge. Due to the buildup time, tank role and fortify it should be too much for petal platform. Orisa’s ultimate, Terra Surge, takes time to build up, and 4 seconds in a fight and becoming a large center of attention is plenty for those quick life weavers, it should not happen and the petal should not work.
When Terra Surge starts it has to first pull everyone in which is about 0.2s and shout her voiceline. She also gains fortify and it creates 9m slow field. Orisa can cancel her ultimate only after about 0.75s. But we have changed tanks over time, the role of the tank gets some small perks like more health and less knockback. Also her ultimate begins her ability fortify, which gives her a 45% damage reduction and immune to movement-impairing effects, so ana dart for example would not put her to sleep. Orisa’s fortify makes her unstoppable, which, “Unstoppable” causes Orisa to become immune to all movement-related status effects including slow, root, knockback, stun, knocked down, gravity and any subsidiary effects."(overwatch.fandom)
Due to Orisa’s weight as the tank her increased health/weight, then fortify adding more health/weight, and fortify causing her to be unstoppable, and unstoppable making her immune to gravity effects and knockback Orisa should stop the Petal platform. But Orisa is not completely immune to damage, so you can still just kill her, and the other option is simply walking out of range of the attack. So petal should not lift a fortify or ultimate using Orisa.
Its an aoe ground attack. That unlike rein or venture. Cannot be blocked by barriers, can not be hacked, can not be slept. One of my favor healers, illari, has an ult nullified by kiriko on a short cd. Honestly this is why i hate orisa and those who rely on her. Once specific move gives a small level of counterplay to the one tank that has 0 real counter play and yall freak out.
It should be really simple for you to simply pay attention to lifeweaver, noting where he is, whether he’s placed his platform recently already, and whether he’d be able to use his platform to counter your ult.
It was changed so that Hack could stop the stomp. I’m not sure if it allows the hack to properly go through and do the ability lockout, it just specifically stops the stomp.
We’ve literally power crept her ult enough, that’s enough free brain off value for 1 character meanwhile takes like JQ gotta solve 4 combined quadratic formulas just to figure out if she should rampage at a certain moment or not.
Haven’t played either of these evil characters in ages but i think Fortified Orisa can be hacked, for the bonus damage from Virus, but is unaffected by the silence from it.
Oh yeah anyways to answer y’all’s questions terra surge is completely and utterly shut down by hack as well as Orisas other abilities besides things that are already on like fortify.
You can hack spinny spear and Javoln as well as her ult completely.
LW’s healing is crazy and his pull gives immortality. He’s definitely not “terrible” as a pure support role. Just because his offensive capabilities are almost nonexistent doesn’t mean he’s terrible.
