I thought the same. It feels way more balanced there. Tanks got less HP so tank stacking doesn’t really work.
Wow, I thought I was the only one who felt that. It seems like 5v5 makes more sense in OQ than in RQ. Even competitively. I personally like playing DPS more (and I actually play much better on OQ than on RQ with DPS)
Well yea, RQ was unnecessary and ruined the game. 5v5 only makes everything that much worse.
Instead of restricting the entire player base, they should just accept that they made problematic bad character kits and just fix those instead of I don’t know reworking the entire roster to force these garbage restrictions to “work” when they never will.
It’s actual insanity that they plan to waste another 2-3 years wasting money and resources when they could just go back to the better version of the game and just rework the support role in full so that we could keep 6v6.
I am never touching Open Queue with a 40 foot long pole, because I always get stuck Tanking. It’s like the old days all over again; everyone instalocks their favorites, no one compromises so we have (if we’re lucky) 1 Support (usually a Zen or Lucio), 3 DPS, and then me, knowing that we’re going to get steam rolled if I pick anything other than a self sustaining Tank.

All the tanks have as much if not less health than they did in OW1. Funny enough. 6v6 somehow didn’t have enough tanks to warrant a blanket nerf, but 5v5 comes around and now there are too many tanks with too much health?
I will stand by this completely, if any tank should’ve lost 1/3 of their hp since the conversion, all of them should’ve lost it. I loved playing Doom in FFA, but he as a tank cannot work with only 300 hp. In a case like his, he should’ve gotten back some of the damage he lost from his rework.
That is funny, here or at least console Europe people don’t care that much about meta comp…
Why not? If you lose you still had fun playing the hero you like.

Going to 5v5 every tank got buffed, as the game was being balanced around one tank, not the 3 that people were running in open queue. Also which tank had more health in ow1? As hog, ball, Zarya, rein, Dva, Winston, sigma; orisa, were all increased. Plus the other buffs to their kits they got. Every single tank received buffs, some bigger than others.
my only two complains is LP and the MMR is waaaaaaaaaay to broad for skill gap dif.
When a person is getting one team with an average of 20-25 Elims vs the other team with 1-3 elims. its pretty obvious the skill diff is too much and now that Microsoft fully calls this game, its time they take some big stacks of cash and roll out one of their big mega computer systems to AI generate matches and detect cheaters.
Note, before ow2, the last time I played was before Echo was released. So if any of these are wrong in OQ, that’s more than likely from a change after I left.
Zarya for one example had 400 hp/ shields in ow1. Pretty sure Hog had 600. Rein had 500 or 550 hp/ armor. Every tank saw different buffs to their durability/ sustain, but every single one had more health then. So, up to 6 tanks with on average 50-75 more hp in OQ, all ranging from 400-600 hp/ armor/ shields then was no problem, but 5 tanks with 450-700 total is too many and too tanky?
And their solution is a blanket 150 nerf, making most if not all weaker than before as now the ranges are 300-550. Three of those tanks can be killed in one shot. One of those tanks lost over half his damage in his rework. Is an extra 50 hp, a more spread out punch, and a 2 second block really worth that in a case like Doom? I would say no.
If a tank should have dps health or less on command durability than a dps, they should have the damage to match.
Tbf I haven’t done open Q in a while, but maybe it’s different depending on MMR/platform, metal ranked console elo open Q is mostly just DPS players wanting to play Thier hero with a shorter q, yes: in console metal ranks DPS q times have still been the highest by far, with support at the lowest. It’s probably different everywhere ![]()

It is a rank / region thing.
Absolutely some people were getting a whole damn lot of it. But you are not in that rank / region right?
Your experience of a limited range of ranks, and limited range of regions doesn’t translate to the entire base.
Yet the matching is still busted, you still run into those crazy stomps either being stomped or stomping the enemy. It’'s not perfect by any stretch of the imagination.
The tanks do not have dps health or less, even with the 150 nerf. Unless we compare specific tanks to bastion, and only bastion Tho I do agree that the 150 nerf was not a great solution, but nerfs were needed when people could stack tanks. And stacking tanks is still the best in open queue, even now.
Also it’s not like the tanks only got health buffs going into ow2. Winston got some ranged dmg, Zarya can bubble herself twice, rein can cancel charge, has 2 fire strikes etc. in 5v5 we had 1 less person to also do dmg to their increased health pool. 3 tanks 2 supports was the most broken comp ow has had when ow2 launched. Or even 4 tanks 1 support.
So 2cp is a bad mode when we only play one side, since it’s so unbalanced. So it should just be in ranked only?
Naw; it should remain removed. The ppl who loved it can still play in arcade.
I do not miss the horribly imbalanced games in old school OQ. Solo tanking/healing 4 dps can suck it.
My point is that if stacking tanks was really such an issue, they would’ve done the nerf much sooner when we had the extra tank that would have more hp than now. And 300 hp? Wow, not including self heals and such, they can survive a whole 1 extra shuriken than a character like Reaper. Yeah, I would say 300 hp is dps health even when not compared to Bastion with his 300 hp/ armor on top of his 30-40%(?) damage resist in turret mode.
If any character should’ve lost 1/3 of their hp, all of them should’ve lost it. That blanket 150 nerf killed OQ for me because it was basically the only place I could let loose as Doom without worrying about teammates flaming me for it. They can clearly balance the 2 separately, there’s no logical reason to not buff separately. If Doom, who had 250 hp before, should only have 300 hp, which is still very close to his original hp, he should have most of his OW1 damage too. It’s only fair.
Nerf everyone equally, or buff the weakest ones.
