Ok, lets decipher "gg"

So, with mm that provides 50/50 win/loose your effort is insignificant , algorithms decide who is going to win.
So when you say “gg” you mean – ow2 is a good game that designed to provide to me ~50 of victories. Gg is not about how both teams play, its about praising bliz for making the game.

With this explanation I finally found a peace

P.s.if you want to say something about players after the game, you usually specify, like:
Hey sombra, you were a pain, respect!
Kiriko, you were as slippery as toronto roads at december mornings, keep it up. Hey Mercy, you made me furious with your crazy rez, I with you were my angel mom, hope to see your again!
Hey Hanzo, even if you hero doesn’t need aiming skills much, you did extremely well, try widowmaker, you can do this!
Hey Reinhardt, you were irresistible and brutal to my team, next time dinner first before smashing me against wall.
Hey echo, are you a professional pilot or something? You play extremely well, please be careful in the sky …

And etc . You got the idea

I don’t really say gg but if I faced a fun mirror matchup, I like letting them specifically know it was fun, win or lose. “gg sombra” or whatever

I don’t say gg when I know my opponents made a big mistake or lost the game because of something out of their control. Like I know everyone says gg all the time but I feel like it loses it’s meaning when you use it like that. You say gg when there’s really a good game, you don’t say gg every game especially when you know your opponents could have done better. To me I feel like that’s a bit disrespectful when you say gg when your opponents got stomped or lost because of throwers or c9 or leavers. To each their own, I know some people say it to be polite but I just don’t see it that way.

You can just say. Gg wp, sorry about the d/cs or insert issue

GG means good game. No need to look even further into it, it’s basic respect for the other team.

I’m not going to but you can say whatever you want, that was just my opinion about it

Yeah. If the enemy team has like… a bunch of leavers. Ill usually add some sort of caveat.

gg: Good Game

a handshake of sportsmanship in good faith to allies, enemies, or both after the experience of a match

or you can be a pessimist and assume that it is always satire and trolling and stay grumpy

It’s been discussed to death. It’s a meaningless gesture at this point said only by people that win. If you want to be genuine try typing more than 2 letters.

i say “gg wp” whether i win or lose

after all, im playing with and against players, not bots

So everyone claims, but I took count once over 100 games and over 90 of games only the winners said it. Perhaps people don’t even realize it anymore and it is just this subconscious reaction to winning a match. People also instantly leave upon losing so that definitely doesn’t help.

i do it every time the match ends. i do wish more people did the same as well. i have fun regardless of who wins and how

Even if true that is not even the proper usage of the gesture so you are doing it wrong either way. :pensive:

imo it was a good game, idk how im using it incorrectly

Truth. Every word. Especially the first sentence. No other follow up needed imo.

I can tell. It’s weird because it is as if it has been lost to history even though it was only 20-30 years ago.

For the unaware it is meant to be said first by the losing side as a gesture of conceding in a friendly way.

People seem strangely upset their empty gestures are not applauded by everyone. That their magnanimous bestowal of gg is not met with thunderous applause and commendations, people hurting themselves in their gusto to pat them on the back.

i dont care if they respond or not, but it is better than being toxic in mc, or matches where nobody says anything to eachother

I think most people would prefer the nothing.

no, algorythms pair teams together that are as close to a 50% winrate against each other as possible right now. if the percentages differ too much from 50% per team so lets say 45/55 (even if i dont know if thats exactly the threshold for consolation, uphill battle etc. modifiers or if its actually much closer on average than that). and then after the game, depending which team won (spoiler its not always the predicted 55% team or the team above 50% winrate against another, thats why you not only see expected and consolation but also uphill battle and reversal modifiers.

its important to understand where that prediction comes from. it comes purely from the sum of the individual mmr on the team compared to one another. mmr is a number that is hidden but correlates and is always related to sr in some capacity.

does that mean that the game tries to put you into games where your teammates are guaranteed to feed bc they have lower mmr than you? no. does having high winrate give you worse teammates? no. the average mmr of your matches is going up so the enemy is stronger ON AVERAGE and so are your teammates. everything else is copium.
