i know that in dota as soon as you type GG - means you give up
i agree. you shouldnt just randomly type gg in the middle of the match. at the end of the game its fine. but gg usually means you think this is over which in a game like overwatch feels either like a slap to your team or concescending if you are rn ahead and likely to win.
What if it stood for Get Grub and they are simply reminding you to get your daily caloric intake needs?
I can’t wait for some people to step out into the real world one day.
All that says is that a lot of OW players are sore losers. It doesn’t change the meaning of the gesture.
Maybe at one point 20-30 years ago, but these days it’s acceptable by any party at the end of the match.
The real world where the world is rigged against you and you still have to smile and be nice about it. Just like Overwatch!
I used to say “Gg wp” all the time in OW1 until they started implementing the 50/50 system and I became more and more aware of it, I slowly realized it doesn’t matter how good or bad I play it’s already a predetermined game as long as the whole team isn’t throwing or try harding it’s gonna go as expected based of the matchmaking algorithm.
You mean you still have to smile and accept it. Being offended by “gg” isn’t “being nice”.

Some dude takes the role you worked years for at a company just cuz of favoritism, it was rigged against you no matter how hard you worked for it and no matter how little he did, simply cuz he’s a fan of the bosses favorite football team and you don’t care about football.
“GG” and smile yes just like that. The real world! Glad we play video games to go back to the real world, super fun man, great idea!

I miss match chat being fun tbh. but after being silenced once, warned once, and now suspended until the end of the month I’m just not going to say anything including “GG” again. now I get why 95% of my matches are silent, people are scared of being reported probably and Blizzard support is a joke.

Well, you can blame the people negging blizzard for a more draconian automated report system. The same people complaining about being reported for “saying gg” now. They thought it wouldnt be used against them.
