That’s cool and all, but will consoles be given the option to disable chat filter any time soon?
You would have to change this every match or every time you turned on the game. This leaves you in the chats but hides the text so people can’t tell you are gone from the chat and then report you for not being in chat.
No one says anything useful to the team over text.

Anyone who thinks typing during a match is useful is deluded (as if its a good habit to be constantly scanning the bottom left of the screen 
) Say the thing out loud or else just listen.
If a toxic player flames in a vaccuum are they still toxic? I get general satisfaction from the knowledge that toxic players are flaming at me while I have no idea they are doing it.

Where I live, lots of people don’t speak English, but they can read just fine. Easier than wasting my breath in frustration.
Can you post a screenshot highlighting it? I can’t seem to identify it well. Why did they ban it in OWL? It’s just stupid imo.
