This has been happening at peak hours for weeks now. Like the post title says, OCE players are ending up on SEA servers resulting in high latency and a less than expected gameplay experience.
This usually ends up with the OCE players then quitting the game. (Which is perfectly understandable).

Been happening to me for weeks now, more prevelant since the season 4 update. 4/5 games are 150+ ping. Most of the people in these servers from what I’ve gathered are in OCE aswell… It’s putting a strain on me wanting to play the game.

Yep, have started coming here daily, playing on 120 MS is terrible.

If you’re Australian, Google ‘ACCC report a consumer issue’ and file a complaint. That’s all we can do. Blizzard literally does not currently care; however, if we can get the regulator involved, no doubt this would get fixed overnight.
Never forget that we have very strong consumer law protections in this country, including statutory prohibitions on the negligent provision of consumer services, and prohibitions on misleading and deceptive conduct in trade or commerce.

I was just in a game where someone in VIC was fine but NSW players weren’t (120ms ping), maybe it’s not SEA servers, but something is going on .

4/5 games are putting me in Singapore servers (gsg1). Every matchchat check results in pretty much everyone being from Aus. Most matches are pretty much unplayable with frustrated leavers or people giving up from having to deal with 110-150 ping. Not expecting Blizzard to do anything about this anytime soon, but figure the more people complain the sooner it gets resolved.

Not a perfect solution by any means (and not an option for console players), but I found using MINA server selector was useful in avoiding Singapore servers completely the last time this was an issue.

I’m also having an issue of being put onto SEA servers (with entire lobbies of OCE players).
Other multiplayer games with servers based on OCE do not seem to have this same issue. It’s happening so frequently now that I just quit for the night the first time it happens.

Add me to the list of Aussie players being shafted by Blizzard. I’ve had to stop playing as the game is completely unplayable. It’s really quite depressing as having played the game since ow1 beta and being a diehard owl viewer it sucks being treated like this.

Here again because I just left another game that was on SEA servers.

I’m in NSW and maybe 50% of my matches these last few days have been on a SEA server with a ping of 100+ms. Mystery Heroes and Ranked. Becoming a disincentive to play.

QLD here. Looks like it’s happening again, is this a yearly thing? 50% of my games tonight have been on Singapore servers. Would be nice if blizzard fixed this because the MINA server select tool just causes me to disconnect from the game. Best I have found is avoiding a player on each team and leaving and trying again.

Happening all the time for me too. I hope this is just temporary. Come on Blizzard, let us play your games the way they are meant to be played.

I’ll be looking for a battle pass refund if it isn’t fixed soon.

Don’t wait, I’d send this through now so someone at least looks at this issue lol
Forcing Australians on to asia servers is unacceptable for a big market game like overwatch. GIVE US THE OPTION. Look at dota queues, first you select your server and if the queue is longer than 10 minutes you’re server range expands to SEA. The ping is ridiculous and frankly unacceptable for a first person shooter… This is turning people off the game, myself included.

I and the majority of my friends that I play with are having this issue. Its frustrating and makes it hard to enjoy the game. It will, if not fixed, probably turn away a lot of players. On days where I keep on getting games with 150 ping on Singapore servers, I get so tired of it and want to just, not play. The fact that it keeps on happening and nothing has been done is a sign of a lack of care for the player base. And that is how you lose a playerbase.

At this point I don’t think they care enough to make this a high-priority issue. Maybe company expenditure has all been spent on their legal team of recent?

I took the advice of someone earlier and ran the MINA Overwatch 2 server selector and blocked GSG1.
But tonight, while successful in stopping me from joining the SEA servers, it took me at least 6 attempts before I found a OCE game. (It just gives you a ‘Failed to Connect’ message. BUT, shouldn’t have to resort to using a program to block the IP of a server to enjoy a game.
Interesting note though. Blocking GSG1 through MINA made me unable to access my Blizzard account (finally remembered to cancel my Wow sub), since it was routing me to a blizzard website starting with kr.
