simple as that, make it reduce damage by 5 again
Kinda hoped for a mass revert but … Guess not
Not possible. We must always have a brain-dead meta so Orisa and Hog must continue reign supreme.
In all seriousness, yeah we do need a revert. Cause honestly, the other tanks just feel bad to play and the other main tanks feel even worse. You get punished for doing your job. Not to mention, all the CC in the game has made Winston and Reinhardt a nightmare to play and has also made Orisa shine because she has the only CC Immunity ability out of all the tanks.
You realize that Orisa is the tank that was Hurt the most with the Armor change right? since she has 200hp // 200Armor
Armor was an issue ever since Brigitte’s release, not just when GOATS came around. She still exists and is even getting more armor distribution.
I’m curious why you’d even want it reverted, though…? I guess it would pretty drastically nerf many of the non-Junkrat DPS, but don’t you also play Reaper?
All this would do is cement sniper meta even more.
She plays from a significantly safer distance and has fortify to protect her armor. She absolutely wasn’t hit harder by the armor change.
Yes please that was the only reason the change was made. Brig and Rein especially need this help to be more viable in 2-2-2.
Rally was bugged though.
Ashe my 2nd dps, followed by Widow (surprisingly)
What’s the desired meta shift result, by reverting armor damage?
Hell no. Armor was always a problem. Burst and sustained DPS is impossible to balance if armor makes too large of a difference. I still think it should be removed entirely.
Ah, so you mean that the tank that has HALF (50%, 1/2, 200/400, etc.)her hp as armor wasn’t hit harder than the tanks who have 20%( Rein, 1/5, 100/500, etc.) or 33%(D.va, 1/3, 200/600, etc.) of their hp as Armor?
Dang, my math is bad I guess!
True… I suppose it’s a little harder to gauge what her impact would have been without the bug pre-GOATS.
I definitely don’t think that ambiguity would justify bringing armor back to the level of hard-countering it used to provide, though, at least as long as a character exists who can provide it to everyone. If characters with innate armor are struggling, buff them in ways that don’t needlessly shift the balance of other characters.
Oh, okay… makes sense then.
So firstly, Reinhardt is 40% armor… not 20%. 200/500.
Secondly… yes. Reinhardt and DVa were hurt more by the armor changes than Orisa.
Of those 3… which is the only one who can use all their defensive abilities while using their primary fire? Answer: Orisa. Fact of the matter is, that there’s literally nothing in Orisa’s kit that forces her into a position where she’s probably going to soak damage with ONLY her armor. She can have her shield up 24/7, if something goes bad she’s got fortify, and if someone manages to get around both of those defensive abilities… well honestly they earned that kill then.
Rein and DVa though? If Rein charges or starts swinging or throws his firestrike… he can’t shield while he’s doing ANY of that so he’s depending on his armor and ONLY his armor to do its thing. DVa can’t DM and use fusion cannons at the same time. Also DM has an absolute joke of an uptime. 2s out of every 12? Yeah that’s pathetic. So again… she’s got armor to help pick up the slack.
Its not surprising in the slightest that the armor nerfs would hurt the tanks that actually use their armor more frequently more than the one that can turtle up behind a shield constantly… regardless of what their HP pools look like.
Who said there needed to be a meta shift reason for reverting it?
It’s pretty simple. Armor was fine. Rally bug and Goats made it not fine, so it got nerfed. Rally bug and Goats get removed… armor can and should go back to how it was… otherwise it’ll be too weak.
Besides, if my brief play time on the PTR has told me anything, it’s that tanks are the least popular class right now. Rebuffing them some might make some people willing to play them again.
I guess I do
There are winners and losers from a change like that.
And often there’s ways to get the same desired meta shift with something more minimal.
Your math is fine, but it’s not just a matter of math.
Rein relies on his armor more than Orisa does.
edit: maybe i’m wrong, when i try to rely on armor for anything i just die instantly
Well there isn’t one and doesn’t need to be one.
The reasons for the change have disappeared, so the change should too.
You really think the devs will go for “I want to do a major change to the game, with no idea what result I’m trying to achieve with this change”?
