"Not fun to play" = unacceptable

A video game character goes from being fun to play, to not fun to play.

A video game character goes from being engaging, to unengaging.

A video game character goes from having a skill ceiling high enough for the top tier players to be easily distinguishable from the rest, to all players players playing the same way and having no way to stand out from the pack.

When these things happen, they need to be fixed. Nothing can justify keeping a hero in a state like this. Being balanced isn’t an excuse. Make them fun and balanced.

I going assume you mean mercy for the sake of the argument but if you think that mercy base kit is boring now and fun before than the ult was the only amusing thing for about the hero was ult

wouldn’t say that but definetly “felt” impactful

Eh not really granted you do get better game sense and postioning but thats with every hero only skill I can 100% say is a mercy exlusive is damage boosting and healing at correct times

agreed she does need a change but to saying “nothing can justify
to keep a hero in the state” seems a bit closed minded of a statment always open your self up to arguments so you don’t seem look entitled

I feel like if Mercy wasnt fun, she wouldn’t be the most played hero in the game.

This unfun meme has gotten stale.

The base kit is kind of fun (though being unable to sustain someone though any DPS in this entire game as opposed to before where Mercy could at least feel like the healing was powerful) is certainly not helping the base kit.
And mass rez which was fun to use whether it be for tempo or the ever illusive 5 man rez was replaced by EZ mode ult that an ally team can’t tell the differene between a Valking Mercy and a god tier Mercy everywhere she needs to be
And rez, an awful experience that forces you to either hide and rez or get babysat by your team.

So regardless of how fun someone finds Mercy’s base kit, Mass rez was replaced with 2 things that are unfun to use period, and that’s a net negative.

I agree… Rework or remove Brigitte please.

What’s fun is a personal opinion. I have fun with mercy

While I agree that fun is certainly a personal opinion, “unfun” is the reason Mercy was originally reworked. The developers comments were that Mercy 1.0 was “unfun” and “disheartening to play against”, which are both subjective. I don’t see why personal opinion was enough of a reason to rework her once, but not enough to rework her now.

Yes they’re definitely taking her in the wrong direction but time only moves foward and looking back on the old mercy isn’t going to help

Yes agreed because no matter how you put it Rez is powerful and yes Valk is less fun than mass Rez

Unfun is very subjective and thats literally the most contraversal topic in overwatch history and arguing with or agaisnst it is right or wrong

because their is no direct anwser I want mercy to be changed but mass Rez is likely never to come back so all we can do is move foward

I’m not saying mass rez should come back, I myself advocate a kind of half rework that makes a single (well I want to try double but I’d take single) rez only usuable during an 8 second long Valk that removes th chain beams but doubles the healing on the single beam.

I was just responding to your comment about why people don’t like new Mercy being only because they thought the ult was the only fun thing about her and I responded with "no those people find the things that replaced Mass rez a negative experience that take AWAY from the base kit they are so bad.)
Valk not only isn’t even impactful feeling (even before this nerf.) it removes all the fun movement required to stay alive as Mercy by making her so hard to hit just by spamming the movement keys randomly, so much so that most of the time people don’t even try to hit you
For a hero who’s base kit is fun through a game of cat and mouse with the flankers this TAKES AWAY not just worse then mass rez but TAKES AWAY from the base kit, for entire fights at a time given that 15 second duration

And Rez, it’s no secret, you have to hide, the allies have to babysit you or the enemy have to be incompetant. These are the only ways a rez can be pulled off at a time where a fight has since broken out, and I’m sure you can understand how using it outside of a fight isn’t inherintly fun.

So that is why people hate the new kit and find her unfun,

Well yeah, people would rather have LORE updates instead of proper balancing for some reason, in a game where you play hundreds if not thousands of matches and lore affects how you play in no way at all.

yeah I Know i find her unfun as well I was saying that for the whole #revert mercy people and I see now how the could have been taken given differing POV on where you want mercy to go

Okay then I guess we’re on the same page,
Gosh I really need to get a shorter version of that description ready for Copy Pasting to anyone who says what you did without tact about it.

A contributing factor sure. Not the reason though. There were multiple reasons.

It’s true that Mercy’s original kit had problems. As much as many other Mercies will hate me for saying this… Mercy actually did need a rework. Just not the one she got.

Mass Rez itself needed a rework. It didn’t have enough proactive counterplay, while at the same time not being proactive enough itself.

Mercy’s base kit needed rounded out. She needed a midfight E so she wasn’t so appalingly ult-dependent, and the GA bunnyhop was that tiny bit of independent mobility that Mercy players craved

Though also having a glide instead of a featherfall passive wouldn’t hurt. Being able to commute between platforms on your own would be a big QoL upgrade.
