No disabled (Wheelchair!) characters in Overwatch

And how did I show I believe otherwise? Did I ever say that every disability is visible 100% of the time or what?

No, it doesn’t work like that.

People still can’t read :pensive:

You mentioned disabled in the title. There are already multiple characters that lost limbs, and Genji & Lucio have the worst of it.

And I almost forgot about that new chatacter in OW2, Sojourn.

So yeah, the diversity there is already covered, and without having to force it & shove it down our throats.

I didn’t even think about this, but I suppose you could make a few arguments for and against attaching missing limbs.

Namely, we can attach fingers and such IRL, but they have to be put on ice or something if their cut off or they’ll be unusable. Maybe something’s similar in Overwatch?

Like, if Mercy was RIGHT there when Genji got his limbs cut off, she could have saved them?

I think right now we are starting to grow organs and tissue with donor cells. Considering we have characters that use nano machines to heal, can turn into smoke biologically and create buildings and things out of “hard light”, it feels like problem of a missing limb is a bit primitive technologically in comparison.

Hmmm…Although this would be interesting, I’m unsure on how the wheelchair would realistically be able to move around like the other characters. I’d think if this were added, they might have limited movement or have slower turning or something. If this does become the case, then the character might need to be carefully created because of this potential limitation on the basic moving mechanics. I don’t think it should fly because of Pharah, Mercy and Echo’s existance. It’d be best not to enrage the community. When Echo got released, people were mad because she could fly and people believed “Echo’s a better Pharah,” and “U destroyed Pharah’s speciality,” and other things I’ve heard that were somewhat familiar. Maybe have it float slightly, like Zenyatta, maybe? Idk, anything can be done, realistically.

Lucio is just wearing powered skates. It was confirmed that his legs are fine.

Junkrat is in a wheelchair in OW2, if you choose so in the ability tree. He gets 2 rip-tires he can control at the same time.

Nothing new here, another ableist that doesn’t care about disabled people in wheelchairs.
Muted.

Reported the post and thread. .

Muted, ignored, reported. That will teach you how to respect others.

Tough to believe that when the tech covers his entire lower body. If they were just tech skates, then his design would look as such.

Pharah’s entire body is covered in armor that looks robotic, but she’s not missing any limbs either. The writers said Lucio’s legs are normal, I don’t know what to tell you.

Can’t wait to throw meat patty to instakill them :^)

What about Zenyatta?

And specifically, Genji?

They are clearly not in a wheelchair afaik.

Well Overwatch is in 2070’s or something, right?

Disabled beings have better equipment there than a wheel chair.

I don’t think Blizzard wants to encourage violence against wheelchair users.

You can’t just assume that everyone is mentally prepared to stick metal limbs into their bodies.
High-tech wheelchair is the best option for people who refuse changing and augmenting their bodies.

But they encourage violence against robots, cowboys with missing arm, senior people, animals???

Some OW heroes would be in wheelchairs if they weren’t given magic abilities.

wait what happened to lucio’s legs?? would love to read more lore about him just realized there’s no lucio skins in which he’s not wearing robot stuff on his lower legs. hope a summer skin comes out with him in shorts and regular roller skates

anyway it would be silly to have a hero in a wheelchair when so many heros have futuristic robot prosthetics. doesn’t fit the theme. if they do have a hovering wheelchair professor X style, that hero should have mind control!
