(NEWS) The devs recent statement on the feedback of removing 2CP in OW2

At and after BlizzCon Jeff stated that OW2 will come with many new features and older ones being deleted. For example being able to cancel Rein charge, role passives, removing 2CP from the main game modes.

The statement is about 2CP. To the majorly positive feedback regarding this choice the dev team will try and remove the Assault game mode from QP, Ranked and both Open Que modes. The maps will still be able in Arcade, Custom and Workshop modes.

They plan to do this in the next Comp season and analyze the overall feedback on this map. Theres a chance they come back after that season and theres a chance that they will not.

Hm, odd that they chose to do it this early. But okay, looking forward to it.

Oh, out of both Competitive modes and QP modes? Wonderful news… I appreciate that they’re sticking around in arcade though

I’m definitely down to try it. I just wonder and worry about certain heroes who shine in 2cp.

I liked to play Hammond on Hanamura but i guess i will play him more on Koth from now.

Very informative.

To add this the maps will be so repetitive in Comp but at least there will be no more Quick Play backfills after 15 min queue time on DPS

I’d still like to see them split out KOTH into 1 map per game rather than best of 3 in QP. That would make for more variety in map selection from the queue (although would bias it towards KOTH maps compared to hybrid or payload). Make the capture % go up more slowly to increase game length on the single map.

It would also solve the problem of the hordes of people that leave after the first map in QP if it was a roll. You often end up playing a completely different team on the 2nd map.

Personally i’ve liked when the KOTH in ranked was best of 5. The matches were more longer and intense. It would be interesting if both would be combined.

I strongly disapprove of this. Assault is my favourite game mode with the best maps in competitive. Temple of Anubis is my favourite map of all time.

Actually i hate Volskaya more than Paris and HLC so i agree with this to an extent. A map or mode being good is subjective.

Weird day to announce this by that’s how they roll I guess.

I really hope that thats just an April Fools Joke. I can’t take playing stupid koth even more than I already have to.

I guess because its a thursday and its 2 weeks until OWL but who knows.

I never understood how temple of anubis was any different from Paris? Both start with defense on high ground in front of the choke. TOA allows you to left or right while Paris is only left, but you almost always go left or main in TOA anyway. The second point has 3 entrances for going main, left or right on both maps.

I never really got why people seem to hate Paris and like TOA.

I don’t know. It’s just an insane rollout/parkour map. There are literally perches and diags everywhere.

Anubis has a lot better cover and paths on the way to the first point,

that’s a big difference regardless of what the playerbase tends to do

the second point on anubis is not only smaller it has a lot more accessible health packs with a mega right next to the point quite literally while the nearest health pack on pairs is not only a mini its in the back side of the point not the front right where all the enemies are, the mega is often a fight changer on anubis second point

another thing about second point anubis is the ability to shoot the enemies compared to Paris and the ability to move around, Paris is a lot more upper and lower ground to the point that you have to work around when attacking its second point that isn’t easily accessed by the enemy team without mobility but easily accessed before the fight without it

Also I haven’t done the time for comparing first points, but Paris quite literally takes longer to get from spawn back to the second point by I think around 5-10 seconds compared to literally every other 2 cp map, and I may be wrong but I’m gonna guess the first point is either around the same amount of time as the walk to other 2cp first points or it has the same problem as second point meaning you literally don’t have as many attempts to beat the Paris defenders as you do the anubis defenders, yes they have a longer walk back to the first point if you manage to kill him, but to win you need to take that second point and having every single attempt take more than average off the clock quickly leads to an unenjoyable experience

Edit: Dont ask me why but my autocorrect always corrects paris to pairs if i dont pay attention and manually undo the correction apologies if it did that

Without significant buffs to various heroes this is just going to make current balance issues even more obvious. Many niche heroes are at their strongest on 2cp.

Yeah, maybe builders should get some powershift on an experimental card then.
